The SANDF vision is Trained, educated and professional soldiers and officials to
quality training and education opportunities in an equitable, efficient manner and to
enable a culture of self-development and lifelong learning (DOD HRD Strategy and
implementation plan, 2016:4-5). South African Army Human Resources Professional
(HR Officer), Capt M. Gcebe excelled academically. Capt Gcebe completed his Law
Matric in 2003 and afterwards obtained an NQF Level 4 Certificate in Human
Resources Management (HRM) (cum laude). He further pursued successfully, a
National Diploma in HRM which was issued by South African Board for People
Practices (the HR, Education Training and Quality Assurance body) in collaboration
with Business Management Training College and a Diploma in Government Studies
at Oxbridge Academy. In March 2016, he was awarded his Baccalaureus
Technologiae Degree in HR Management (B-Tech HRM) by the Free State Central
University of Technology. The following modules formed part of the B. tech degree
and were all completed successfully:
An organisation cannot build a good team of working professionals without good Human
Resources. The key functions of the Human Resources Management (HRM) team include
recruiting people, training them, performance appraisals, motivating employees as well as

workplace communication, workplace safety, and much more. The beneficial effects of these

Any organisation, without a proper setup for HRM is bound to suffer from serious problems
while managing its regular activities. For this reason, today, companies must put a lot of effort
and energy into setting up a strong and effective HRM.
