HORSE RIDING
Our Tuesday evening horse
riders took part in their last
session of the term this week.
Well done to everyone gaining
their British Horse Society
certification and lovely rosettes!

OT UPDATE
We offer our congratulations to OT Mathis Bellino on his rowing success
since leaving the school last summer. Mathis, along with many of his
fellow rowers at his club, CERCLE NAUTIQUE de FRANCE, based
just outside of Paris, only started rowing in September 2016 but has
already achieved great success. The club entered two boats of 8 into
the qualifying tests and both got through to join the French National
Youth Rowing Championships in Vichy recently. After three 1000m
races, they came home in 4th out of 51 boats, just missing out on 3rd
place by a meagre 1 second!
Mathis and his team did incredibly well and it was an amazing
achievement for a young team from a small club (only 21 members
in the U14 category called Minimes), which has now been pushed
up to 23rd place in the French rankings. Well done Mathis, we are
incredibly proud of you!

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY DAY
Year 7 and Year 6 enjoyed half a day at Clifton College this week recording in a studio, and then
individually composing for film in an Apple Mac suite on the software garageband. This was a
great introduction to the technology which we plan to have at Tockington in the new Music and
Performance studio. It was also great to see the facilities available at Clifton College for the future.
Well done all!

YEAR 5 PORTISHEAD TRIP
Year 5 had a fabulous day out during Activity Week despite the blistering temperatures. At the
Portishead RNLI station, they heard talks and viewed the multimillion pound equipment and facility.
Year 5 heard about the work of the RNLI, and the lifesaving work we do at TMS was reinforced. A
huge thank you to the volunteers of the lifeboat station for talking to the children.
They then managed to persuade
the Pool Manager at the Lido
to let them in 1/2 hour early,
where they were welcomed by
the Lifeguards and staff. Mrs
Hinchliffe was not sure the 250
people queuing outside were
too pleased but local knowledge
is everything! In return, Mrs
Hinchliffe had to work in the tuck
shop!
The children were impeccably
behaved and despite the number
of people, heat and general
summer madness, Year 5 kept
their cool, were sun safe and
had fun. There were lots of lovely
comments from people about
their behaviour so well done
Year 5! A huge thank you from
Mrs Pullin and Mrs Hincliffe.

Lower School Gala

By Thursday 22nd June, the temperatures had subsided to a more bearable 34 degrees in the pool!
The children behaved with a sense of fun, healthy competition and determination. Although the
eventual winners were the Swordfish, the final polo made for a nail biting end to the gala. Well done
to all the swimmers and the staff who helped and parents and carers who watched.
