Introduction This Product Release Note launches Tellabs

6325 Edge Node, FP 1.3 SP1.
Feature Pack 1.3 introduces features like E1
performance monitoring, V.11 User
channel, MS-SPRing, Drop&Continue with
SNC protection for broadcast signals, Dual
Node Ring interworking, and an option
Back-to-back SNC protected subnetworks
when trails are passing across very large
optical SDH networks.
This Service Pack solves problems
identified in the GA version of the
Embedded Software.

Feature Pack 1.3 Tellabs6325EdgeNode,FP1.3launchesthefollowingnewhardware:

New SIMX4m
A new SIMX4m module is designed. The module has the following enhancements
compared to current SIMX4: 1) E1s performance monitoring, 2) Resynchronization on
physical E1 outputs, and 3) V.11 User Channel.
New SIMX16m
A new SIMX16m module is designed. The module has the following enhancements
compared to current SIMX16: 1) MS-SPRing (see below), 2) E1s performance monitoring, 3)
Resynchronization on physical E1 outputs, and 4) V.11 User Channel.

FP1.3launchesthefollowingnewfeaturessupportedinthesoftware:
MS-SPRing
MS-SPRing protection is supported at STM-16 level. This is especially beneficial for ring
applications with a distributed traffic pattern. Please note that MS-SPRing is only
supported with the new SIMX16m module.
Drop&Continue / Broadcast with SNC Protection
To facilitate e.g. video broadcast fully SNC protected Drop&Continue functionality is
implemented with this release.
Dual Node Ring interworking
To further improvement of the resiliency against network or node failures SNC protected
Dual Node Ring interworking is fully supported from this Feature Pack.
SNC Back-to-Back connection
For very large optical SDH networks it may be beneficial to protect the network against
multiple fiber breaks in the same link. Today a trail is typically protected end-to-end with
one working path and another protection path. This new feature allows the end-to-end
connection to be protected by splitting the connection into a number of individually SNC
protected subnetworks and thereby survive fiber breaks in multiple subnetworks.

Solved irregularities EPR No. / CMS no. Problem description
in FP1.3 SP1, BV068
compared to FP1.3 8791 / After more than 2000 zip-operation, e.g. backups, the pre-allocated
GA, BV054 memory for zip operations is consumed and an LMIP error is raised.

9275 / 138542 With a GbE signal mapped into STM-16 signal in an MP4 module
the VC-4 alarms occurring if the external STM-16 signal is disrupted
are not always as specified. Furthermore they can be instable.
9359 / 145917 If a SPIMX module is inserted in the working cross-connection slot
(Slot 3) during a CMCC reset the traffic on E1 interfaces (located on
module in other slots in the node) may be disrupted for about 15
seconds.
9372 / 139922 When synchronization of a Tellabs 6325 node is in free-running
mode it is seen that bit errors may occur in a multiplexed GbE signal
on an MP4 module.
9443 / 148436 An apparent brief Signal Failure condition reported from the NIM
when the Supervisory-unequipped signal is applied may triggers an
unexpected SNC/N protection switch.
9747 / 114522 In some nodes it is seen that it hasnt been possible to open
Equipment View/Traffic Management dialogs from the manager.
9780 / 151485 With a PIM3P module connected to a Cisco Router over an E3
signal, and the payload of the E3 from the Router is ATM, CRC
errors caused by the PIM3P module are generated.
9784 / 141833 In modules with E1s a LOS alarm will clear when only one of the
pins in the balanced E1 Rx signal is connected. It should only clear
when there is signal on both Rx pins.
9866 / 158448 AU/TU conditional alarm revert back to default (disabled) when a
Tellabs 6325 is reset.

Upgrade paths To upgrade to FP1.3 SP1 the following upgrade paths are recommended:
Tellabs 6325 FP1.2 SP2 (BV107) Tellabs 6325 FP1.3 SP1 (BV068)

Tellabs 6325 FP1.3 GA (BV054) Tellabs 6325 FP1.3 SP1 (BV068)

Please note that for both upgrades paths the bootprom and firmware also have to be upgraded.
Please note that after the FPGA upgrade it is only necessary to power reset the MP4 and TR4
modules. The firmware in the remaining modules is unchanged.
If Disable Conditional AU/TU alarm is set to TRUE before the upgrade of ESW, it must be
reconfigured after the up upgrade to BV068. See also EPR 9866 under Solved Irregularities
above. After the upgrade to BV068 future resets will not change the alarm configurations.
No other combinations are tested. Hence if other releases or build vectors are currently
running, it is recommended to update to one of above Build Vectors before upgrade.
Please refer to the Tellabs 6300 manual MA368 for detailed description of upgrade procedure.

Roll back procedure To downgrade the SDH node to original Feature Pack (FP) and Build Vector (BV) the
procedure is described in the Tellabs 6300 manual MA368.
