ABSTRACT
The study Incidence of Orthostatic Proteinuria among selected Fish vendors in Tanauan
Public Market is mainly about the occurrence of Orthostatic Proteinuria among the
selected respondents who are prone to be affected of the said condition due to prolonged
standing. Thirty Tanauan Fish vendors were chosen for they are one of the most suitable
respondents for this study. Urine samples with a volume of forty mL are collected from
the respondents before standing and after prolonged standing, placed in a sterile container
and stored in an ice box to preserve and maintain the specimens integrity. Reagent strips
are used to test for the presence of protein while Sulfos alicyclic Acid is the reagent used
as a confirmation for the presence of protein in which each trial, before and after
prolonged standing results are recorded. The study has shown that there is an incidence of
Orthostatic Proteinuria among the selected respondents for having positive results in all
the three trials specifically during the 3rd trial of the experiment. There is no significant
difference in their protein level when grouped by age and gender, but with regards to
hours of standing, a significant difference was observed. Study has also showed that there
is a significant relationship between the protein, Sulfosalicylic Acid and the hours of
standing. Therefore, researchers proved that as hours of standing are prolonged, an
increase number of respondents showed positive results in their protein level and
sulfosalicylic acid test.
