To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept my application and attached resume for the open Elementary School Counselor position at your school. I
believe that my professional experiences in VPK, K-12 and higher education can contribute to your schools efforts in
promoting academic achievement, personal and social development and engagement efforts with parents and
community members.

Growing up as the child of two teachers, it has been my passion in life to help others reach their highest potential through
teaching, learning and inspiring personal growth. After raising my first two children (twins) into school age, I feel an urge
to utilize my education, training and skills to reach my own potential through a rewarding career as an elementary school
counselor. Because I am motivated to start this career path as quickly as I can, I recently submitted my application and
transcripts to the Florida Department of Education to receive an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility for issuance of a
Florida Educators Certificate.

I was pleased to learn that I am eligible for a Florida temporary certificate covering Guidance and Counseling in Pre-K
grade 12. I can officially be issued my temporary certificate upon verification of my employment as a school counselor and
as soon as the results of my fingerprints are processed from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI.
Upon receipt of official temporary certification, it is my goal to complete the necessary steps to obtain my professional
certificate as soon as possible!

As I said previously, I have long been interested in helping children reach their highest potential. I earned a Masters
Degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University in December 2007, with a specific focus on school
counseling. I took courses including Introduction to School Counseling, Counseling Children, School Counseling Seminar
and Standardized Tests among others. During my internships in K-12 and postsecondary education, I provided counseling
to students who were struggling with a variety of personal, mental health, and academic issues. I am incredibly proud to
have graduated with a 3.8 GPA from such a stellar Masters program which also provided invaluable hands-on
experiences gained through my practicum and internships.

Looking to transition to early education, last summer I accepted a VPK teaching position at an academic private
preschool, The Reading Corner. While I enjoyed my time in higher education, experiencing my own children learn and
grow inspired me to begin a new journey, switching gears from postsecondary to early childhood education.

As a teacher at The Reading Corner, I create a fun, safe, positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere where children
actively engage and participate in individualized and specific learning initiatives. I was excited to learn about the
Kimochi curriculum, a social and emotional program which encourages kids to explore, identify and appropriately
address feelings with others by fostering both self-awareness and empathy. The lessons and characters make such an
impact with the children and truly assist in their ability to process through an emotionally challenging situation. If
children are given the tools to effectively work through and manage stressful and sometimes painful emotions, they will
be better primed to engage in the classroom environment, more likely to have their learning light switch turned on, and
be more apt at developing important interpersonal skills which benefit them both presently and in the future.

While I have enjoyed teaching at the early childhood level, I am ready to combine my experiences as an educator,
counselor and advisor and focus my career efforts solely as an Elementary School Counselor. In my current and prior
positions, I successfully established rapport with students of all backgrounds. I personally and professionally invest in
every single student I meet with. I am a quick learner and have confidence that youll discover a reliable, warm and
professional employee someone who cares a great deal about the quality of her work and professional relationships. My
attached resume will provide more details regarding my experience, qualifications and education.

To reach me with any questions or to schedule an interview, I can be contacted at 989-213-8344. Thank you for your time
and consideration!

Sincerely,

Bethany L. Miller
