TheGatesMillenniumScholarsProgramisascholarshipandmentoringprogramforoutstanding
lowincomegraduatinghighschoolseniors.

GMSselects1,000talentedstudentseachyeartoreceiveagoodthroughgraduation
scholarshiptouseatanycollegeoruniversityoftheirchoice.WeprovideGatesMillennium
Scholarswithpersonalandprofessionaldevelopmentthroughourleadershipprogramsalong
withacademicsupportthroughouttheircollegecareer.

20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowships


TheThielFellowshipawards20buddingentrepreneurs$100,000grantseachtoworkon
developinginnovativetechnologyideas.Thoseselectedforgrantsarealsomentoredby
experiencedprofessionalsfromtheThielNetwork.Tobeconsideredyoumustbe19orunder
byDecember31stoftheapplicationyear.ApplicantshaveuntilDecember31sttoapply.

Projectideasgrantedfundingincludenuclearandalternativeenergy,robotics,biotechnology,
3Dprinting,syntheticbiology,publichealth,education,finance,scientificequipment,gaming,
andsoftware.Wedloveforyoutosharewithusabouthowyouwanttochangetheworld.

National Space Club


Olin E. Teague Memorial Scholarship
WearenowacceptingapplicationsfortheOlinE.TeagueMemorialScholarship.Thescholarship
recipientwillhavetheopportunitytoattendthe57thAnnualRobertH.GoddardMemorial
Dinner,theindustry'spremiergathering,andwillreceive$4,000tobeusedtowardseducational
expenses.

TheNationalSpaceCluboffersthisscholarshipeachyearinmemoryoftheHonorableOlinE.
Teague,aRepresentativeinCongresswhoaggressivelysupportedournationalspaceprogram,
toencouragetalentedyoungpeopletopursuecareersinaerospacefields.Thescholarship,in
theamountof$4,000.00,isawardedtoagraduatinghighschoolsenioratanaccreditedU.S.
highschool.ThestudentmustbeaU.S.Citizen.Thisscholarshipprogramisintendedto
encouragetalentedyoungpeopletopursuecareersinaerospacefields.

Keynote Scholarship
TheNationalSpaceCluboffersamajorscholarshipeachyeartoencouragestudyintheSTEM
relatedfields.Thescholarship,whichincludestheopportunitytoserveastheKeynotespeaker
attheGoddardMemorialDinner,thepremiernetworkingeventintheAerospacefield,aswell
as$10,000isawarded,toaU.S.citizeninatleastthejunioryearofanaccreditedU.S.High
SchoolthroughGraduateUniversity,who,inthejudgmentoftheawardcommittee,showsthe

National Space Club Scholars


TheNationalSpaceClubScholarsProgramisasummerinternprogram,forupto50highschool
students,withspacescientistsandengineers,sponsoredbyNASAGoddardSpaceFlightCenter,
Greenbelt,MD(upto41)andNASAWallopsFlightFacility,WallopsIsland,VA(upto9)in
cooperationwiththeNationalSpaceClub.Theprogramisconductedforsixweekseach
summer,fromlateJuneuntilearlyAugust.Participantsmustlivewithincommutingdistanceof
theNASAGoddardSpaceFlightCenter,Greenbelt,MD,ortheNASAWallopsFlightFacility,
WallopsIsland,VA.

The Dr. Robert H. Goddard Scholarship


TheNationalSpaceCluboffersamajorscholarshipeachyeartoencouragestudyinthefieldof
engineeringandscience.Thescholarship,intheamountof$10,000,isawardedtoaU.S.citizen

Sufficientbackgroundmeansfamiliaritywithmodernneuralnetworkmodels,suchasrecurrent
andconvolutionalneuralnetworks,howtheyworkandhowtotrain/usethem,andfamiliarity
withsimplersupervisedmachinelearningsuchaslinearmodels,decisiontrees,randomforests,
andsupportvectormachines.Generalknowledgeofthesetechniques,withoutanybiological
background,isenoughtogetstartedwithoutextensivepreparation,therelevantbiologycanbe
coveredalongtheway.

Eachsummer,theSpaceTelescopeScienceInstitute(STScI)bringsadozenhighlymotivated
collegestudentstoBaltimore,Maryland,foraSpaceAstronomySummerProgram(SASP).STScI
isthescientificoperationscenterfortheHubbleSpaceTelescopeandthefutureJamesWebb
SpaceTelescope.TheSASProgramrunsfrommidJunetomidAugust,andisdesignedforupper
divisionundergraduateswithastronginterestinspaceastronomy.Studentsworkindividually
withSTScIresearchersandstaffonresearchprojectsthatmightincludedatareductionand
interpretation,softwaredevelopment,scientificwriting,preparingdataforpublicreleases.The
programaffordsstudentstheopportunitytoattendlecturesonavarietyofexcitingtopics
relatedtospaceastronomy,theHubble,andJamesWebbSpaceTelescopes.

TheSpaceAstronomySummerProgramprovidesstudentsafun,educationalexperiencewithin
ateamspiritedenvironment.Studentswillreceiveacomparablemonetarystipend,housing
assistance,andtraveltoandfromBaltimore.

AmgenScholarsallowsundergraduatesfromacrosstheglobetoparticipateincuttingedge
researchopportunitiesatworldclassinstitutions.17leadinginstitutionsacrosstheU.S.,Europe

astronomical community, and have discovered thousands of objects including nebulas,

International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics


TheInternationalOlympiadonAstronomyandAstrophysics(IOAA)isanannual
astronomycompetitionforhighschoolstudents.The2013IOAAwasheldinGreece.39
teamsfrom35countriesparticipated,includingfirsttimeteamsfromUSA,New
Zealand,Canada,Malaysia,Armenia,MacedoniaandCyprus.The2014IOAAwasheldin
Romania,with42teamsfrom37countries.

National Astronomy Olympiad (USA)


FoundedbySSPalumni,theNAOisaselectiontestfortheteamrepresentingtheUSAatthe
InternationalOlympiadinAstronomyandAstrophysics.Whileparticipationisopentostudents
