Introduction

The pramos of Ecuador have long been considered as hostile and unimportant
ecosystems; however, this idea has changed significantly in recent years, due to the better
knowledge of the functions of this ecosystem. Currently showing great importance to
those species that are in danger of extinction, but which have a tourist attraction for the
Andean areas of Ecuador.

Among the species in danger is the deer, this animal considered as one of the most
beautiful, noble and defenseless species on the planet, so it is being threatened by man to
the point of being in serious danger of extinction. The deer since it lives only where there
is good quality of Andean forest this entails to protect its habitat to protect and to
perpetuate this species.

General objective

To improve The Deer House to save fauna

Specific Objetives

- To save natural fauna of Cayambe city, promoting the conservation of natural

habitat
- To stimulate sectors linked to rural development, expanding coverage and
improving the efficiency of services.
- To create a source of income through ecotourism.

Place description
The deer house is located in the community of Guachal, which is a valley located in the
southeast corner of Cayambe 12 and 15 kilometers away, between the foothills of the hills
of Taxurcu, Cuniburo, Catequilla and Pitan and Al North-west of the VII parish of
Cangahua. Guachal, because of its political division belongs to the parish of Cangahua,
however, because of the geographical proximity to Cayambe, the communities of
Guachal maintain a direct relationship with this city. "The Deer House" has
approximately 3 hectares of land account which is implemented for the rearing of deer
which have 46 deer each year to increase the number of deer.

This deer house was created 10 years ago by the owner Don Julio Villalta which has 4
hectares of land where there is breeding wild animals such as alpacas, pigeons, leaf paper
cock roosters, but mainly the deer, began with 18 Females, 2 males and 5 fawns, during
this tour we can observe some plants such as cedro, pencos, chilca, yagual the most
important of the quishuar flora also we can find in fauna like hens, llamingos, the main
animal is the deer.

The deer are usually at liberty as it is wide enough the place, the deer park is surrounded
by primary forest there the deer can move freely and can act in their natural form. Its food
consists of leaves, fruits, grass and grassland, wild deer live up to 15 years of life due to
predators, the deer that inhabit this park come to live 25 years approximately, thanks to
the care given each one of them.

Importance

It is important to conserve each species for several reasons for example for the
biodiversity of the place also for an ecological balance of the ecosystem so it would be
very important to conserve this place called house of the deer with the intervention of
organizations and the parochial GADS of the community of guachala with The help could
at least help by providing food promoting the place juristically so as to obtain economic
resources for this place as it is a place that have a very important animals such as deer
and alpaca.

PROCESS

Review existing politics in our country for the declaration of protected areas and
conservation of endemic species.
In case it does not exist. Create an agreement with the relevant institutions to the
case, one of them is the MAE (Ministry of Environment).
If such politics exist. Comply with the regulations fully for the declaration of
protected area and conservation of the deer.
Once established the legal framework, involve the nearby population to promote
ecotourism to generate economic income for both the population and the
conservation area.
Run a training program for those involved in the project on the importance of
endemic species.

ADVANTAGES

Provision of services that enable people to live in (For example, fisheries and
forestry, both for Subsistence as for trade).
Support life (For example, soil, water and air).
Regulation of other important ecosystems (For example,, mangroves that act as
nurseries For young fish)
Contain cultural importance and provide opportunities for recreation (For
example, sites Sacred, hiking trails)

DISADVANTAGES

A considerable amount of money is required for the initial investment

Non-profit projects
The animals must adapt to a limited space

CONCLUSIONS

The lack of interest in the conservation and expansion part of the owners is one of the
factors that leaves them less competitive in the tourist market and is the reason why it is
not visited by many tourists.
