Column sizes
The column in question, column type C3 has a minimum size of 250mm is
adequate for 1.5 hours fire resistance.
Proposed column of dimension 250mm x 250mm

MAIN REINFORCEMENT
Clause 3.8.4.3
Equation 29 The column is design for nominal eccentricity of short columns
resisting moments and axial forces.
N = 0.4fcuAc+0.8Ascfy
Asc = N- 0.4fcuAc
0.8fy
Asc = 23.36 x 103 - 0.4 30 250 x 250
0.8250 Asc =
= - 3633.2mm - 3633.2mm2
The negative sign implies the compressive strength of column can
resist the axial load hence provide nominal reinforcement.

A more lightly loaded column subject to bending should be
considered as a beam for the purpose of crack control
