1. Verb tenses
a) Present Simple - face referire la actiuni care se repeta, preferinte, adevaruri general valabile si
evenimente programate - I sell motors every day.
b) Past Simple - actiune savarsita si incheiata in trecut - Yesterday I sold a motor to a new client.
c) Future Simple - actiune care are loc intr-un moment viitor, apropiat de momentul vorbirii - Tomorrow I
will sell five motors.
d) Present Continuous - actiunea are loc in momentul vorbirii sau nu a fost terminata la momentul vorbirii
- I cannot come to lunch right now, I am selling a motor to a customer.
e) Past Continuous - actiune in desfasurare la un moment dat in trecut, actiune care continua de ceva
vreme, actiune care are loc in acelasi timp cu o alta actiune in trecut - While you were selling the 5
motors to the customer, I went to lunch with the rest of the team.
f) Future Continuous - actiune continua, ce va avea loc la un moment dat in viitor, dupa momentul vorbirii
- Tomorrow at 11 oclock I will be selling 5 motors.
g) Present Perfect - actiune care tocmai s-a incheiat, o actiune care incepe in trecut, continua in trecut si se
termina in prezent sau foarte aproape de prezent - I have just sold the 3 motors.
h) Past Perfect - actiune care a avut loc si s-a terminat in trecut, inaintea altei actiuni tot din trecut - I had
sold the motor before the other client told me he was also interested in it.
i) Future Perfect - actiune viitoare care va fi fost terminata inaintea altui eveniment din viitor sau
ajungand pana la acesta; actiune vazuta din viitor, dar care se intampla in trecut - We will have sold
the 5 motors by the time youll come here to see them.
j) Present Perfect Continuous - actiuni, stari, sentimente incepute in trecut, care se desfasoare si in
prezent, poate si in viitor - I have been selling motors for 5 years.
k) Past Perfect Continuous - actiunea a fost in curs de desfasurare pe o anumita perioada de timp,
inaintea altei actiuni din trecut - They were tired because they had been selling motors all year long.
l) Future Perfect Continuous - o actiune se va afla inca in desfasurare la un anumit moment in viitor,
durata actiunii fiind precizata - At the end of next month, we will have been selling motors for 10
years.
