If not otherwise mentioned, Open Text recommends the use of the latest firmware versions, as those
versions generally provide improved functionality and quality. Open Text does not guarantee that
versions other than the ones tested will behave as expected.
Nevertheless, if a required firmware version for a device is specified, at least this firmware has to be
installed on that device!
Note: A newer (i.e. later) firmware than mentioned as required can be used
If the major version is the same.
The changes in the newer version are transparent for the Open Text software.
The patch information in the Knowledge Center has to be checked on a regular basis to see whether
newer versions are available: https://knowledge.opentext.com/go/16475999.

Patch numbers listed in this document are minimum patch levels required.

OpenText recommends to use at least the Centera Compliance Edition. If you do not know which
compliance edition is installed on your EMC Centera, ask your EMC support for help.
For compatibility of the above listed Centera SDK and CentraStar: contact EMC.
2
Centera SDK v3.3 requires the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable
Package MFC Security Update http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347

Important
You
ou can only use Authenticated Namespaces in Tenants.
Data in the Default Namespace must be migrated to an Authenticated
Namespace before installing OpenText Archive Server 10.5.
For migration use the HDS HCP Data Migrator.
Customers which want to use hardware other than Information Archive or DR550/DR500 Express
have to address their IBM Software contact for support of certain hardware with the IBM TSM for Data
Retention products.
Important
Primary device classes other than DISK are not supported.
For ISO Image: Copy to tape as backup on secondary device class can be
used, but data must remain on disk.
3
Single Document storage requires 2 pool types: Data is initially archived into a Single File (FS) pool and will
later be migrated to a Single File (VI) pool.

Important
Network Attached Storage Systems (NAS) not explicitly mentioned
below are not supported as storage systems
The NFS mount to the network attached storage must be a hard mount. It has to be ensured, that the
network connection is permanently available and stable. If the mount point of a NAS system partition
does not respond, e.g. because the storage system is down, the Document Service will completely
hang.
If the backend storage system (stage II) consists of tape devices, it is strongly recommended to
provide enough hard disk (stage I) to keep all your data on those hard disks. Due to the nature of the
Archive Services random access to the data, direct tape access may decrease performance and
wear out the used hardware.

For detailed support of retention periods on different ONTAP versions see: http://www.netapp.com
When using the Archive Server and NetApp Filer make sure that all computers (server and clients)
use a central time server.
6
ONTAP versions 7.x.0 and 8.0 are not supported, because they do not support Snaplock.
When using the Archive Server and SAM-FS make sure that all computers (SAM-FS
FS server and
clients) use a central time server
server.

Copy to tape as backup on secondary device class can be used, but data
must remain on disk.

When using ISO images and capacities disk, the read performance is dependent on the size of the

Important
SAN disks without retention periods and WORM feature are not
certified. In general, pure SAN disk are not recommended as storage
systems for content.
Customers using such systems have to assure against data loss by backup and have to execute
sanity checks regularly
7.2 Infrastructure
The implementation
entation of the connection with which the SAN Storage system is attached must be
transparent to the application.
