Summer 2017

Dear KIPP STRIVE Academy Families:

We hope this letter finds you well as you prepare for the excitement the end of the
school year brings and make plans for the summer. We are writing to share with you
information regarding this years summer reading and math assignments.

KIPP STRIVE Academy believes in summer reading as a means to foster life-long

learning, reinforce academic achievement, and to promote reading as an enjoyable
activity. Students are required to read the assigned novel(s) for their grade level. In
addition to the reading, please note that there are also assignments to be completed
by the start of school. We suggest that families assist their children in reading both
the book and completing the project so as to meet his/her individual interests and
strengths.

The summer math program allows students the opportunity to continue building
math skills in a way that is most appropriate for the student and family. We are
asking that each student spend at least one hour per week building his/her math
skills.
