LESSON 4

Should I...?
Let's Read

A. Anthony and his mother are having a conversation about Anthony's chores around the house.
Anthony's
parents are traveling for a week and they are going to be out of town.
Mom: Anthony you know you must clean your room and make your bed.
Anthony: Yes, I know I'll do it tomorrow.
Mom: O.K. You must also feed the cat and put away all your books after you use them.
Anthony: Yes, don't worry.
Mon: Oh, I almost forgot. You must not open the door to strangers.
Anthony: What if it's a delivery guy or someone bringing correspondence?
Mom: In that case you must tell your brother and he will take care of that. You know that.
Anthony: All right mom. I'll try to do everything you're telling me to do.

The next day Anthony ran into his friend Dora and told her that he and his brother were home alone.

Anthony: It's really cool not to have my parents at home for a week.
Dora: But I'm sure you are now responsible for your home.
Anthony: Well I just have to clean my room, feed the cat and make my bed.
Dora: I think you should also water your garden.
Anthony: My brother has to do that.
Dora: And you shouldn't forget to turn off the lights when you leave.
Anthony: Why are you telling me all these things?
Dora: Because I've been home alone too and as you're my friend I'm telling you what you
ought to do and ought not to do.
