Lesson idea implementation:

Going along with the previous session on pronouns (see BPT entry), I will do a brief overview to see if the
students could list or give an example of a type of pronoun as a warmup. Then, I will show the PowerPoint
presentation that was created in the previous session from combining all the different groups slides, and we
will go through it as a class. This should take about 10-15 minutes.

Next, I will have the students take out their homework assignment which would have been to write a story
that was no more than one page (back and front) long. The subject of the story was completely up to them,
but they had to use at least 6 different pronouns and a character in the story had to own something. Using
the in-class iPads or laptops, I will have the students log into the BoomWriter class that I would have set up

ahead of time and type up their stories for submission. Hopefully, since they are merely typing what was
already written, this should take between 15-20 minutes. Then for another 10-15 minutes, the students will
have access to the voting feature where they can choose stories anonymously and vote on whether they liked
them or not. The winning story at the end of the allotted time would be the one we edit as a class to go into
the class storybook that may be printed at the end of the semester.

Because this lesson idea is in conjunction with another, it starts off at a LoTi 4 because the students are
creating a product to reinforce already learned information through voice and choice. They have very few
parameters to write in, and they are also assessing the work of their peers. Through a feature of BoomWriter,
it can be expanded to a LoTi 5 due to the possibility of publishing some of the writing from this lesson into a
book of collected stories at the end of the semester for print or to even be uploaded to the schools e-library
to be shared with a beyond-the-classroom audience. BoomWriter also allows me to give feedback through
the website so that the student can revise the story for later use.
