A Humble Proposition

Gender inequality is a very real and prevalent issue among todays society. In the

workplace, women are constantly discriminated against. Women earn a lower salary than men do

for the same work. According to The Washington Post, Women make up almost half of the

workforce and outpace men in college enrollment, but yet they still earn only 94% of what men

earn (2016). The Washington Post explains that due to gender roles automatically assigned to

women, they are more likely to take off work to take care of a family member. In 2014, women

made up two thirds of Americas 20 million low wage workers (National Womens Law Center,

2014). Women are also more subject to domestic abuse than men. Additionally, 85% of domestic

abuse victims are female, while only 15% are male (Huffington Post, 2014). Men have more

political power than women, as only 19.4% of the seats in Congress are held by women in

America (Center for American Women and Politics, 2015). Besides these facts, both males and

females have delimiting gender roles that affect them economically and socially. Many people

agree that the issue of gender inequality needs to be addressed, but the method of solving this

dilemma is unclear. However there is an incredibly simple solution that will eliminate this issue

at its root.

To finally put an end to the age-old issue of gender inequality, the obvious solution is to

eradicate gender altogether. If the entire concept of gender is nonexistent, the social and

economic disparity between the previously perceived genders will also become nonexistent. One

might wonder how gender could simply be erased from society completely, but it really is quite

simple. The first step towards the obliteration of gender is to erase the evidence of its impact

from society. To do this, the memory of the existence of two genders must be erased, and any

evidence of two genders in the media must also be destroyed. This will be a simple task, as it has

been done before several times by the U.S. government to erase other memories. One might also

wonder which gender, male or female, will be chosen as the remaining gender. The answer to

that is also clear--neither male nor female. By creating a new genderless gender, the issue of a

dominant gender will be inexistent.

Advances in modern medicine have lead to the creation of a gender reassignment surgery

that will be used by force to convert all existing humans to the new genderless gender. As for

reproduction, it would be done by artificial means; no human will ever have to carry a child

again. New children are created in a lab where they are injected with a new Z chromosome-the

chromosome of the genderless. The new breed of children are extremely intelligent at birth and

do not require a guardian of any sort to care for them. Children are born with the capacity and

responsibility to take care of all their own needs, and do not need a superior to tell them what to

do. This new home structure will rid society of the constraints of a previously established

patriarchal home structure, helping eliminate rampant gender discrimination in society.

A world without gender would be the solution to more than just the concept of gender

discrimination. It would solve economic disparities, crime, and fill the education gap between

males and females. Without any gender to discriminate against, everyone would be paid equally!

Everyone would have college degrees! Everyone will be making $1,000,000 dollars a year and

live in the same million dollar gated neighborhood because everyone will be equal. A genderless

world would solve crime and establish the representation of the newly homogenous population in

politics. A genderless society would achieve exactly what America has ever stood for:

opportunity to achieve success without the limiting factors of gender roles. A genderless society

integrates the importance of total and unrestricted equality. If all people are relatively similar, no

one has any advantages over others, and a numerous amount of opportunities becomes available

to all people.
