and the TI-NspireTM CX


Creating an Labeling a Triangle
1. Open a new TI-Nspire CX document and
choose Geometry.

2. Press Menu Shapes and choose a shape
that you would like to create. We will create a
triangle in the example. (See Figure 1)

Move the cursor and press Click three times
until the triangle is created. (See Figure 2)

3. To label the figure, press Menu Actions
Text. (See Figure 3)

4. Next, move the cursor to each point (make
sure that the cursor indicates point), press
Click, and type the letter desired for the
point. Press Click when finished typing each
point label. (See Figure 4) Press ctrl shift
for ALL CAPS.

5. Repeat step 4 for each point.

Measuring Angles
1. Press Menu Measurement and choose a
type of measurement. We will measure
angles in the example. (See Figure 5)

2. Measure each angle just as you name an angle;
move from one point to the next, where the
vertex of the angle desired is the second point
selected. Move the cursor to the location of a
point (make sure that you see the word point)
then press Click. Figure 6

3. Repeat step 2 for each point in order until the
angle measurement is shown. (See Figure 6)

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the remaining two
angles. Press ESC to remove the icon in the
upper lefthand corner. (See Figure 7)

5. Grab and move any labels or measurements by
pressing and holding Click on the item that
you want to grab. Then brush your finger across
the TouchPad to move the item. Figure 7

6. If you ever see items flashing and cannot grab
properly, press Esc and try step 5 again.


Creating Calculations

7. Calculate the sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle:


A. Create a text box: Menu Actions Text
B. Move your cursor to a convenient location and press Click to
open the textbox.

C. Type A+B+C
D. Press Menu Actions Calculate, move the cursor to the
textbox from step C, and press Click (See Figure 8)
E. Press Click on each of the three angle measurements.
F. Move the result of the calculation (180) to a convenient location
and press Click.

G. Press esc to eliminate the icon in the upper lefthand corner. Figure 8

8. To increase the number of decimal places, hover over the
measurement in question until you see the word text, then press
+. (See Figure 9)


9. Move the cursor to any point until you see an open handmake
sure Point is indicated, not Label, then grab that point by
pressing and holding Click until the hand closes.

10. Move the point by brushing your finger across the TouchPad and
notice the total sum of the angles as the angle measurements

change. (See Figure 10) Figure 9
