ADMISSION INTO A MASTER OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING IN OIL AND GAS


(MFA OG) DEGREE PROGRAMME 2017/18 INTAKE

The University of Dar es Salaam invites applications for admission into the Master of Finance
and Accounting in Oil and Gas (MFA OG) Degree Programme.

General Information
The overall goal of MFA - OG is to equip students with critical knowledge on advanced financial
and risk management, costing and taxation in the area of oil and gas while considering the
economics of oil and gas, oil and gas policies and regulatory framework as well as the
international and national business environment. More specifically, MFA - OG intends to:

I. Equip students with knowledge and skills on investment and financing approaches of oil
and gas projects,
II. Equip students with knowledge on the application of theories and analytical approaches
in practical decision making and sound reporting of issues related to oil and gas industry;
III. Strengthen the capacity of students in identifying, monitoring and managing risks related
to the execution of oil and gas projects;
IV. Enhance the professionalism of students in the area of costing/valuation, auditing and
taxation of oil and gas projects; and
V. Equip students with knowledge on environmental accounting, business governance and
social responsibility for modern entities/ enterprises.

Modes of Offering
The program will run as an executive modular based program.

Admission Requirements
The applicants seeking admission to the MFA - OG must have either of the following
qualifications:

1. A first or second class honours degree in the area of commerce and management (or business
administration), economics and actuarial science from recognised higher learning
institutions/ universities;

2. A pass degree (in the area of commerce and management (or business administration),
economics and actuarial science from recognised higher learning institutions/ universities)
and 2 (two) years work experience after graduation plus postgraduate training of at least 6
(six) months;
3. An advanced diploma in the area of commerce and management (or business administration),
economics and actuarial science from recognised higher learning institutions/ universities
plus a post graduate diploma; or
4. First degree plus masters or 12 months postgraduate diploma in the area of commerce and
management (or business administration), economics and actuarial science from recognised
higher learning institutions/ universities, plus at least 2 year experience in areas related to the
oil and gas industry.
