D = 3.00 m footing embedment depth

g = 18.0 kN/m soil density

c = 40 kPa cohesion of soil
B = 2.0 m footing size

Eq. 2.83

Eq. 2.66

Eq. 2.67

3.0 From Table 2.3 Meyerhof's bearing capacity factor:

Since:
f = 2 deg
Nc = 5.63
Nq = 1.2
Ng = 0.01
3.1 Refer from Table 2.5 Summary of shape and depth factors.

lcs = 1.214
lqs = 1.107
lgs = 1.107

lcd = 1.155

qa = 794 kPa

The actual soil pressure is:

qact = 750 kPa

* Note :
Note that the allowable pressure qa is very large, and the actual soil pressure qact is also large. Some geotechnical consultants routenly limit the
pressure to around 500 kPa in recommendations to clients for design wheter settlement is a factor or not. Small footings with large column loads
confidence-inspiring during construction, and with such a large load involved this in cetainly not the location to be excessively conservative.
