Step 4 Bring the drawing to this position using shift & scroll button of the mouse
Step 5 Specify the corner point of the box
Step 10 Initiate union command & select the boxes shown except the moved box.
Step 11 Initiate subtract command. Select the object that has to be subtracted from
Step 12- Select the solid region that has to subtracted. Press enter
Step 1 Go to top view. Select polyline option & draw a square of 5 units.
Step 6 Come to top view. You can see that the sphere overlap with the cube.
You can see the intersection in x ray view clearly. To remove the intersection use union option.
Subtract
Lets say i want to retain the cube & cut away the sphere.
Step 1 Select subtract option
Step 2- First select the object that you want to keep i.e cube Press enter
Step 3 Pick the sphere. Press enter.
You will get a sphere like cut at the corner of the cube.
Intersection
Step 2
Find the REGION command to transform our lines to a block.
To find the REGION command, Click on the small arrow beside Draw to pull down the menu
Select the REGION command and select the whole figure (every lines should be selected), then press ENTER on your
keyboard. Actually, you just need to select the outer figure without selecting the circle, but it makes no difference if you
decide to select everything.
Step 3
Find the EXTRUDE command and select it.
Select everything, type 40 on your keyboard and press ENTER. You should get the figure below.
Step 4
What we need now is subtracting the volume 2 from the volume 1.
Select the SUBTRACT command, an subtract the cylinder 2 from the figure 1. You might want to check how to use the
SUBTRACT command in AutoCAD if you are not familiar with this command.
To notice the result of the SUBTRACT command and see how it affected your design, change the VISUAL STYLE
from 2D Wireframe to Shades of grey to get the result below.
Step 5
Get on our previous VISUAL STYLE, and draw a Diagonal like shown on the figure below.
Step 6
Use the EXTRUDE command like in Step 3 to get a cylinder of height 10. (you can extrude with a negative value to see
the difference, try with -10)
In my case the Cylinder grew outward when I wanted it to grow inward. So I will use the MOVE command to change the
position of my cylinder such as having it like this. (To move your cylinder, use the center of the outer base of the cylinder
as the first base point of displacement, and the center of the diagonal as the second point)
Step 7
Draw a line of 25 from the center of the segment A. Make sure ORTHO Mode is allowed to be able to draw a straight line
perpendicular to A.
Step 8
Use the center of our line to draw a circle of radius 3.
Step 9
Use the EXTRUDE command to get a cylinder from the circle we have just drawn, and make sure the cylinder is longer
than the main object like shown on the figure below.
Step 10
Use the SUBTRACT command, and subtract the last two cylinders from the main figure and you should be done with the
exercise.
You should get the figure below while changing the VISUAL STYLE to X-Ray

In this exercise we will have a step by step demonstration on how to use AutoCAD command to obtain the figure below.
step 1
We will start by drawing a rectangle with the following dimensions.
Step 2
Obtain the figure below, make sure you have changed your settings as mentioned in Things you should learn on your day
1 using AutoCAD.
You should be able to find the middle of each side, so create a gap of 100 and 60 centered at the middle of each side. And
draw a line perpendicular of 20 of length. The line will help draw arcs since will need 3 points to draw each of our arcs.
You also need to draw a diagonal, this will serve to draw the circle, we need to be able to draw a circle centered right at
the center of our rectangle.
Here we can draw our circle with no hassle using the diagonal of the rectangle, and we are sure the circle is at its right
place.
Step 3
Use the ARC command to draw arcs. In this task you can choose to draw only 2 arcs, and use the MIRROR command to
obtain the 2 others.
Step 4
In this step we are trying to draw those rectangle with rounded corners. There is a trick which allows you to start the
beginning of a line at a specific distance from a point. To use it, you need to activate the LINE command, come near the
end of a line, stay for a second, move now slowly horizontally or vertically, you should notice those green dotted line,
leave now your mouse in that position, and type a digit using your keyboard, if you did it well, you should notice that the
beginning of the line has been created at the distance and toward the direction you specified.
You can try using this technique to find the starting point of the triangle we are trying to draw.
But if you are not able to follow this, you can simply draw lines, use them, and delete them when you are done with them.
What makes AutoCAD cool is the fact that you can nearly draw anything starting from scratch, and this is a factor that
allow you to have a very unique design and give you the ability to be in control of every single line in you design.
AutoCAD allows you to create blogs, this will prevent you having to draw something twice for different design over time.
You just have to draw it once, convert it into a bloc and keep it for next use.
Here is a quick tutorial on how to draw a 5 points star in nearly 5 simple clicks.
You can use the same technique to draw a 6 points star in AutoCAD, but in this case you will need to use a polygon with 6
sides.
And it is not only about pipes, since this can be useful as well in a multitude of other design issue you will come across in
your projects.
We will use the command called SWEEP, we could decide to use the EXTRUDE command too, but the SWEEP
command makes it easier for us.
In order to use the SWEEP command to create a pipe, we need a circle representing the cross section of our pipe, and we
need the path. The path has to be the perfect shape and length of the pipe we are seeking to create. So you want to be
careful here by designing it well.
We will use the POLYLINE command to draw the path.
As randomly as it can be we will create a path, up and down, right and left.
Now what we want to do is have those sharp edges in a rounded shape using the FILLET command.
Yea, you noticed it. I created a circle which eventually represent the cross section of our pipe. Now we are good to go. We
have all our requirement in place to create our pipe. A path and our circle.
You need to make sure that the path is one object, if it is not, you need to unite all those lines together for them to
constitute only an object.
Joining many lines to form a POLYLINE (You should follow this only if your path is formed by many short segments)
1. Write PEDIT and Press ENTER
2. Select Polyline or [Multiple]: write M and press ENTER
3. Select Objects: Select all lines
4. Convert Lines, Arcs and Splines to polylines [Yes/No]? <Y>: Press ENTER
5. Enter an option [Close/Open/Join/Width/Fit/Spline/Decurve/Ltype gen/Reverse/Undo]: write J and press
ENTER
6. Enter Fuzz distance or [Jointype] <0.000>: Press ENTER
7. Press ESC on your keyboard.
The part in bold is the message you are receiving from the command window from AutoCAD.
Use the SWEEP command.
Click on the SWEEP icon, select the circle first (press ENTER on your keyboard) and select the line second. You should
get this.
Seeing it on a different angle we get this
Now we can choose to use the SHELL command to finish up and have a better look.
Learn how to use the SHELL command if you are not familiar with it.
