Job description
Job Summary:
The Senior SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the implementation and support of new SAP
infrastructure in a virtual server environment utilizing SQL Server and SAP Hana technology. This role uses
subject matter knowledge to assist with the creation and maintenance of standards, guidelines, and procedures.
The Senior SAP Basis Administrator is expected to work with the NGS Core Team, third party partners and the
Patterson Infrastructure team to ensure proper performance, functionality, maintenance and support of the SAP
infrastructure.

Major Duties:
Perform core SAP Basis administrator functions including software installation and setup, enhancement pack
and support pack installation and upgrade, performance monitoring, tuning and capacity management
utilizing enterprise standards and leveraging best operating practices.
Actively participate in SAP infrastructure design including server, storage, high availability and disaster
recovery capabilities.
Collaborate with database administration resources in a Microsoft SQL Server and HANA environment.
Collaborate across IT functions including server team, networking and security teams to assist in driving out
solutions for SAP that meet Patterson standards and go forward operating plans.
Support SAP Landscape strategy thru client copies and system refreshes.
Collaborate with enterprise monitoring team to establish and maintain appropriate monitoring and alerting of
issues across the SAP infrastructure and application.
Collaborate with SAP development team to support integration between the SAP products and interfaces
between SAP, legacy applications and third party software.
Create, review, and maintain daily operational procedures, task schedules, and documentation.
Monitor, analyze, and identify trends for system performance and resource utilization.
Work with infrastructure team to identify hardware, database and application failure scenarios and perform
disaster recovery testing to validate SAP recovery.
Respond to system problems on a 24x7 basis and take part in on-call rotation.
Assist with change control, incident response, and testing processes for infrastructure changes or problems
across the SAP landscape.

Desired Skills and Experience


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or related field preferred, or a
combination of equivalent education and experience.
5+ years of experience in SAP BASIS/Security Administration including one or more of the following SAP
modules - ECC, BW, EP, PI, CRM, SCM and EWM.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for SAP Basis Administration and operations.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with third party products such as Vertex and Open Text.
Experience building relationships between IT and business teams.
Experience providing leadership to team members with less experience.
ITIL Foundation Certification
Exposure to SAP HANA

Minimum 8 years' experience performing SAP Basis Administration, to include: installation of instances,
client copies, application of Support Stacks and patches, monitoring and tuning, transport management,
problem analysis and troubleshooting
* Experience must include a minimum of 3 years' experience with analysis, planning, installation and
system configuration of SAP NetWeaver instances and components including ECC, EP, XI/PI, BI, and
Solution Manager
* Implementation experience with a minimum of 1 full life-cycle implementations; experience with large
scale and complex SAP environments preferred
* Must have 3 years' experience providing documentation for implemented technical solutions, such as
installation procedures, system administration procedures, and monitoring procedures
* Must have strong oral and written communication skills
* Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and direction. Must be able to work
within a diverse team and be a participating member of a team supporting a large implementation
* Prior experience of 1 to 2 years providing production support in a post go-live environment
* Must meet DoD 8570.1 computing environment certification requirements- Certification in A+,
Security+ or Network+- and- SAP Technology Certification or attendance certificate for SAP Training
