How to Upgrade Huawei S5328C-EI

Switch to be VRP
1) Preparation for the upgrading

Enter into the device dir to check the current version of Huawei S5328C-EI Switch, if
the version is V100R002C02, then you can conclude that the latest version
V100R003C00SPC301 can be upgraded. As to the appropriate VRP version of the file
searching, adequacy of Flash space and so on, you decide it.

Other provisions do not say, for example, to find the right VRP version of the file, view
Flash adequacy of space

2) Upgrading

First, you need to upgrade bootrom. Here Ill make presentation for the process of
upgrading via the serial port.

Enter into bootrom menu, restart the switch and press Ctrl + B to enter into ROM
mode when Press Ctrl + B to enter BOOTROM menu ... 1 is showing.

The following message will be shown on the screen at this point.

BOOTROM
MENU

1. Boot with default mode

2. Enter serial submenu

3. Enter startup submenu

4. Display flash files

5. Modify BOOTROM password

6. Reboot

Enter your choice(1-6):

Choose 2, The following message will be shown on the screen.

SERIAL
SUBMENU

1. Update BOOTROM system

2. Download file to Flash through serial interface

3. Modify serial interface parameter

4. Return to main menu

Choose 3, change the serial port parameters to be 115200.

Noted:

After modifying transfer rate of the device, you must modify the rate of HyperTerminal
to be 115200 also.

Choose 1 Update BOOTROM system after modification. The following message will
be shown on the screen

Enter your choice(1-5): 1

Please Select File .

XMODEM downloading ...CC

Transfer files in the HyperTerminal at this point, select the protocol of Xmodem, and
find out the files to be upgraded from the browser.

Noted:

The upgrading at this time is not vrp, but bootrom110.bin.

After the upgrading succeed, the system prompts will be.

download to SDRAM successfully

So far, the upgrading of bootrom has been finished.

Then, vrp will be upgraded

After the BOOTROM upgrading, we need modify the serial port parameters to be
default parameters.

Noted:

After the equipment modifying, HyperTerminal should be modified or it can not be

connected

And then select 4 Return to main menu, select 6Reboot to restart the switch.

Press Ctrl + B to enter into BOOTROM mode When Press Ctrl + B to enter
BOOTROM menu ... 1.

Noted:

The default password of the ROM mode is generally Huawei.

The following indication would be shown after entering into ROM

Choose 2, the following messages will be shown on the screen.

Choose 3, change the serial port parameters as the above.

Then select2 to download VRP

You need name for the new upload VRP after all the files to be transferred, and then
back to the ROM mode menu.

Select 4, return to the previous menu

Startup Configuration Submenu

1. Display startup configuration
