The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General
Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing
adequate shelter for all. It is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the
UN system. UN-Habitats vision of urbanization encompasses all levels of human settlements, including
small rural communities, villages, market towns, immediate cities and large cities and metropolises. UN-
Habitat renewed its presence in Pakistan in late 2005 following the devastating earthquake in the north
of the country, facilitating the reconstruction of over 460,000 houses. At present, UN-Habitat is co-
convener of Strategic Priority Area on DRR/DRM of the One-UN Pakistan Programme 2013-2017, Chair of
the WASH Working Group and is actively represented in the Shelter, WASH and Community Restoration
clusters in KP & FATA. Key responsibilities of my position include;
Lead and manage the Basic Services Unit including ongoing country initiatives related to WASH
emergency and early recovery, WASH interventions in polio-affected slums, solid waste
management and WASH infrastructure/facilities, particularly on projects/initiatives funded by
UNICEF.
Provide strategic direction to the Basic Services Unit and team members so as to bring coherence,
synergy and added value to programme management processes using a results-based
management approach to planning and design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Mobilize necessary resources for expanding the Basic Services portfolio by identifying suitable
opportunities, formulating project concept notes and proposals in line with the
Governments priorities, international commitments and obligations, and UN-Habitats

WaterAid (WA) is an international nongovernmental organization, working in 37 countries to fulfill its


vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. WA launched its programme in
Pakistan in 2006 and has helped marginalized communities through establish sustainable water supplies,
sanitation services and has also influenced government policy-makers to serve the interests of vulnerable
people. WAs strategy in Pakistan is to work through local partners to improve hygiene behavior and
ensure people have access to water supply and sanitation services, with a special emphasis on Innovative
approaches, Participatory methods, Women and other vulnerable groups, Hygiene promotion,
Monitoring and evaluation and Sustainability.
South Asian WASH Result (SAWR) Programme was a consortium comprised of WaterAid, Plan
International, and Unilever led by Plan-UK implementing a Payment by Result (PBR) programme
comprised of output and outcome phase whereby 70% of implementation is in the output phase until
December 2015 (Funded by DFID). I was hired to lead, deliver and report the programme phases through
providing strategic leadership and effective consortium management as Manager WASH (DFID SAWRP) in
WA Pakistan being the focal person for compliance oversight and verification processes internally as well
as with e-Pact, DFIDs lead external verifier for Result Based Funding (RBF). Key responsibilities included;
Leadership & Consortium Management: Overseeing the implementation of SAWRP in 3 districts
across two Provinces of Pakistan with the wider implementation of PATS (Pakistan Action on Total
Sanitation) through National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) and Muslim Aid Pakistan (MAP) as
implementing partners through effective consortium management and programme leadership.
Tracking the implementation of programme to ensure timely implementation.
Programme Governance: Leading and facilitating the consortium governance modalities with
multi-layer accountability mechanisms for effective delivery, advocacy and reporting through CET
(Country Executive Team) and feedback to CSC (Consortium Steering Committee). Steering
Committee includes Secretaries Local Government Departments of KP, Sindh, Baluchistan and

Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) provides humanitarian aid worldwide. It supports people who have
fallen victim to natural disasters, war and displacement. In its activities DKH is committed to the basic
principles of humanitarian aid as laid down in the Code of Conduct of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and
of non-governmental aid organizations in the context of emergency assistance. In Pakistan DKH has
supported more than one million people in need since the devastating Kashmir earthquake of October
2005 and implemented more than 70 projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Azad, Jammu and Kashmir
(AJK), Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan in partnership with Pakistani Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
My key responsibilities included
Capacity building and technical backstopping of implementing partners, and work in close
collaboration with other Sector Managers/coordinators (FSL, DRR and construction) and Monitors
to ensure that DRR cross cutting opportunities have been adequately explored, developed and
incorporated into other sector projects.
Effectively managed the overall Base/Office related activities (Admin, Logistics and security) and
also performed the duties of being a focal person for all the program sectors working from the
base.
Design and undertake needs assessment surveys for the formulation of various concept notes and
project proposals (Proposal Narrative, LFAs, Estimation and Budgeting, Budget narratives,
implementation plans) submitted to ECHO, AA, USAID, USDA, AA, BMZ, BFDW, UNICEF, UNDP,
USDA, WB and DKH. Also, responsible for finalizing monthly, quarterly, mid-term, end of project
reporting and developing success stories and case studies.
Representation on respective sector to relevant clusters, agencies and local ministries, as and
when required. Also, effectively coordinated with project stakeholders and Government line
agencies including PDMA, District Government representatives, TMA, PHED, UN Agencies, Health
and Education departments.
Design baseline and end line assessments and KAP (Knowledge attitude and practice) surveys in
order to monitor the progress of different projects and conclude lessons learnt for future
compliance.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the worlds worst humanitarian crises and helps
people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to restore safety,
dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The International Rescue Committee has
worked in Pakistan since 1980, providing emergency relief, health care, education, job training and other
essential services in communities affected by conflict and natural disaster. Key Responsibilities included;
Support the EH/WASH Coordinator at the field level to implement all interventions related to
Environmental Health. This includes water provision and protection, sanitation infrastructure, NFI
distribution and hygiene awareness programs. Directly supervise
teams of environmental health staff and provide technical supervision, back stopping and capacity
building of IRC environmental health projects in the field.
Initiate and assist with project proposal submissions when required and undertake baseline,
interim and final surveys to assess, monitors and evaluate programs. Also, make sure that
EH/WASH programs utilize standardized protocols, policies and guidelines, as proscribed by the
Ministry of Health, Department of Hydraulics, WHO and Sphere Guidelines. Ensure that all
environmental health activities are consistent with established best practices.
Work closely with the finance, programs and logistics teams to ensure proper project planning,
proper budget management and timely procurement of all materials. Assist with grants and
reporting systems and management of budgets, including budget forecasting, development of

(PPAF) is the lead agency for poverty reduction in Pakistan. Being a community-led, demand-driven
institution, PPAF focuses on partnerships which are non-prescriptive and model-neutral but value-driven.
The essence of PPAFs work is to support and strengthen institutions for the poor (partner organizations)
in developing institutions of the poor that are well governed, transparent, democratic, and accountable.
Key Responsibilities included;
Verifying, monitoring, review of work plans and progress reports related to the work of
implementing partners of Khyber PukhtoonKhwa (AKRSP, SRSP, CMDO, SABAWON, GBTI, CUP),
Gilgit Baltistan (AKRSP, SRSP) and that of Baluchistan (BRSP, TF, BEEJ, PIDS, BRDRS) and
recommending the disbursement of quarterly amount for carrying out the Agreed
implementation plan signed with these Partner organizations. Also, making sure that designs and
implementation interventions (Community Physical Infrastructures) are constructed in
collaboration with GOP ministries, local communities, farmers, private sector, and NGOs.
Verification of Project proposals and monitoring the execution of Community Physical
Infrastructures (USDA and WB Funded) that are provided to conserve the water use (Water
Management). The interventions include Drought Mitigation and Preparedness projects (Small
dams, Irrigation Channels, Drinking Water Supply Schemes, water ponds, Reservoirs and Flood
Protection Structures) and integrated water efficient projects (Drip Irrigation systems, Sprinklers,
Bubblers etc).
Verification of Project proposals of Small and Mini Hydro power projects (USDA and WB Funded)
ranging from 100 KW to 500 KW in northern areas of Khyber PukhtoonKhwa and Gilgit Baltistan
region, submitted by Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP)and Sarhad Rural Support
Program (SRSP) and monitoring their execution in field.
