1. A shopper in a supermarket pushes a cart with a force of 35 N directed at an angle of 25


downward from the horizontal. Find the work done by the shopper as she moves a total
distance of 50 m in the supermarket.

2. A horizontal force of 150 N is used to push a 40 kg crate a distance of 6.0 m on a rough


horizontal surface. If the crate moves at constant speed, determine (a) the work done by the
150 N force and (b) the coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and surface.

3. FIGURE 1 shows the forces on a box being pulled by a 180 N force

7. A 0.25 kg block is placed on a light vertical spring and pushed downwards, compressing the

2. An 8.0 g bullet is shot into a 2.0 kg wooden block that is free to move on a smooth surface.
After the collision, the bullet is embedded in the block and moves at 2 cm s -1. What is the
