PURPOSESTATEMENT:
The Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (RSFAS) comprises a dynamic team of
academicsfocussedonachievingexcellenceinresearchandteaching.TheSchooliscurrentlyseekingto
appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Commerce. The successful candidate will be a recent PhD
graduateinfinance,accountingorarelatedfieldlookingtofurtherdeveloptheirresearchpotentialwith
leadingacademics.Aswellasadvancingtheirownresearchagenda,thesuccessfulcandidatespend50%
of their time working on a large, externally funded crossdisciplinary research project1 modelling the
complex relations among environmental, financial and wellbeing outcomes of sustainable farming
practicesinruralAustralia.

PositionDimension&Relationships:
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be based in RSFAS, one of four schools forming the Australian
National Universitys College of Business and Economics. The Fellow will interact with stakeholders
(farmers, policy makers, etc.) and collaborators and use these discussions to assist in: Designing and
implementing quantitative and qualitative research studies; and, Preparing academic publications and
policyreportsdocumentingtheoutcomesofthesestudies.

RoleStatement:
TheRSFASPostdoctoralResearchFellowinStatisticswillberesponsiblefor:
1. Conducting high quality research with potential for significant impact on Australian farming
communities.
2. Leadingandcontributingtotheproductionofpeerreviewedpublications,conferencepresentations
andruralcommunityengagements.
3. Collaboratingwithseniorstafftoactivelyseekandsecureexternalfunding,andassistingtoprepare
andsubmitresearchproposalstoexternalfundingbodiesasappropriate.
4. ActivelycontributingtoallaspectsoftheoperationsoftheSchool.
5. Supervising higher degree research (HDR) students and undergraduate/postgraduate students
workingonindividualorgroupprojects.
6. Assistingwiththesupervisionofresearchsupportstaff.
7. Maintaininghighacademicstandardsinalleducation,researchandadministrationendeavours.
8. Taking responsibility for their own workplace health and safety and not wilfully placing at risk the
healthandsafetyofanotherpersonintheworkplace.
9. Performing other duties as allocated by the supervisor consistent with the classification of the
position.
