Acknowledgement

The objective of this assignment is to learn how to prepare an appropriate BQ, to

acknowledge the standard form, query list and to show the cost estimation between
several sections or parts of the building by the professional party which is by the Quantity
Surveyor and also to assist post-contract administration to be carried out in efficient and
professional. The Quantity Surveyors are qualified and adequately trained to advise
relevant parties in or during construction work besides preparing BQ, costs and query list.

A BQ can be said as a list of brief descriptions and estimated quantities, the

quantities are defined as estimated because they are subjected to measurements and they
are not expected to be exactly accurate due to uncertain factors which happen in civil
engineering works. It should be noted that the quality of drawings plays a main part in
achieving those important aims by enabling taking-off to produce an accurate amount or
bill and also by allowing the estimator to make assumptions on engineering judgments on
method of working. Its important to acknowledge the standard form when it comes to
project lines where both parties should know better the law about the rules and
procurement when involved in construction projects or work.

Preparing query list is important and to assume certain item on several sections or
parts of the building. Effective cost planning will help to ensure that, once a realistic
estimate is agreed between the parties, everything that follows is in accordance with it,
from the successful contractor's tender to the final project cost. Constant monitoring
means that the risk of overspending can be seen at an early stage and prompt action could
be taken.
