I. PRODUCT D ESCRIPTION
II. PROCESS
The cold creams may be divided into oil-water (beeswax-borax) types and water-in-oil creams
(beeswax without additional alkali) cleansing creams may be beeswax-borax (and another type of oil-in-
water) cream to be discussed from water-in-oil cold. This last group of cleansing creams differs from
waterin-oil cold creams in that beeswax is not a emulsifier used. Where beeswax is the sole emulsifying
agent in a water- in-oil cream, the latter is likely to be relatively unstable and will not be the fine textured
white cream required for cosmetic application.
III. PROCEDURE
1. Fill the beaker half-full of water, and set it to boil. This will serve as a water bath for controlled
heating of the evaporating dish to be placed on top of the beaker.
2. Cut 10 grams of portion of white beeswax into smaller pieces and place it in an evaporating dish
3. While the beeswax is melting, place 5 grams of shredded paraffin in a test tube. Add 20 mL of
mineral oil to the beeswax and heat the mixture with constant stirring until it is completely
melted 70 degrees Celsius.
6. Carefully pour the cream into a jar and observe the contents.

V. Learning Insight
Weve learned that we can make our own cold cream with just a few steps and we can add
ingredients that are more neede by our skin or lessen the ingredients that we dont really need. Its
nice that we can create a cream according to the needs of our skin and our lifestyle.
