The Legend of Milky Way

In a village called Wyvern, there once lived a not so ordinary girl named Milly. Her skin
was whiter than snow, her eyes as bright as scarlet, and hair is like the wavy clouds in a fine
weather. Because of her condition, all the villagers think that shes cursed, because her father
whos a grave digger is said to have sold her wifes soul to the soul keeper in exchange of a
wealthy life. Her father did not have a clue that his wife was pregnant, and so the soul keeper
cannot kill the wife for it will make him take two souls, including the child. The deal had to wait,
until the wife had given birth to Milly and her mother died shortly after that.

Milly lives alone, she rarely talks to others and she always stay inside her home. She only
comes out when she needs to buy food or to stroll in the forest to pick fruits, woods, and
branches that she needs for her to start a fire for cooking or for the fireplace.

One day, the bright clear sky was covered by the gloomy clouds. Rumbling above can be
heard. A storm is coming, she thought to herself. I need to fetch woods to warm myself when
the storm arrives. Milly then set out fast towards the forest to gather woods and branches, but
her luck has ran out as the droplets of water poured down making it impossible for her to collect
woods and branches.

The situation worsen as the rain poured harder giving her no choice but to find a safe
place to stay until the storm is completely gone. Finding her way back home, she ventured
through the woods and found herself completely lost. Roaming in the forest under a heavy
storm is no better than swimming in the sand, she mumbled as she walked and arrived into a
somewhat graveyard place.

At the far south of the graveyard lays a downward cave, as Milly run towards the cave,
she heard cries of agony and woe but she did not pay attention, the only thing in her mind is to
reach the cave and wait until the storm is gone.

As she reached the cave, what she saw astounded her. The cave leads downward as far as
she can see. The downward slope seems like forever, a tingling feeling that she cannot fight
arises to her body. She let herself succumb into her curiosity and she started to walk down the
dark cave. As she continues to move, a grim-like figure appeared before her very eyes.

You seemed to be like a lost soul to me, the figure says morosely. Suddenly, dim lights
appeared revealing the figure. A man wearing a black cape with hood, his eyeballs are black with
white iris. He hassmall, dark lips and without a nose. His skin is red, cracked up like dried earth.
W-who are you? Milly stuttered, refraining herself to shout and run away. I am a soul keeper,
the guardian of souls. I am the one who collects the soul of those who died from the very
beginning of time. His voice was full of sadness, making Milly lost her fear. You must come
with me. The soul keeper commanded.
But, I must go home, Milly answered. As you can see, Im not a soul. Im still alive.
The soul keeper moved, floating in mid-air. No youre not, the rocks above crumbled, blocking
the only way out. You seemed to be a lost soul to me. The soul keeper repeated, without a
choice, Milly followed the soul keeper.

As they arrived at the very end of the cave, Milly saw almost uncountable souls including
souls of animals, scattered everywhere. They are almost like billions of souls in here! Milly
exclaimed. The soul keeper looked at Millys eyes intently. You are right; I was given the task
to hold them here for they may cause chaos above your place. Go on, you belong with them
now. Milly doesnt know how to respond, and so she moved towards the souls, thinking shes
one of them now. The Soul keeper floats away from them and moved toward the only exit and
entrance of the cave.

Heeeeelp! all the souls exclaimed in distress. Help us! Milly pitied the souls as she
can feel the sadness in their words and how they longed to be free. She then thought that she can
dig her way out of the cave because she still have a body while the souls do not. Dont worry,
Im Milly and I will find a way out. She told the souls, but it seems like they cannot
comprehend everything that Milly says. As she looked through the exit, the soul keeper is not
around. He must have come out to collect the souls of others, she thought to herself. She
immediately went to the only exit and run to the near entrance which is blocked by rocks. The
souls started to follow her and still kept on saying help. She then started digging the rocks out;
she started to remove the small ones until there was an opening.

Milly will make a way out, dont worry. She kept on talking to the souls as she
continues to remove the small rocks. After a few minutes, she successfully made a hole big
enough for her to pass. Come, follow Millys way. The soul started to move, afloat they tried
to escape, Milly is still trying to remove the rocks until the one rock that gives balance to the pile
of boulders snapped and crumbled down. We can all get out now! Milly exclaimed happily as
the souls kept on flying out of the cave.

NO! Milly heard a gloomy shout behind her. The soul keeper gazed at the chaos and
found Milly letting the souls come out. You shouldnt have done this! The keeper moved to
get Milly but the force of billions of souls trying to get out first took Milly along as well. The
soul keeper did not give up, he tried to stop the souls but they keep on moving. Go up! Until the
soul keeper cannot reach us anymore! Billy commanded, the souls had followed Millys order.
Go up, the souls proclaimed. Follow Millys way. They kept on repeating. It is said that the
souls had reached out of earth and kept on circling showing their happiness and freedom.

It is said that the circling souls can still be heard saying Millys way, and later on called
as Milky way for its appearance, and in remembrance of what Milly have done to the souls.
