Building the Kingdom of God In todays Gospel Jesus compares the

kingdom of God to a number of different things: a man who sowed good
seed, a mustard seed, and yeast. Similarly, there is no one way to build up
the kingdom of God in the Church. As the On Mission for The Church
Alive! initiative progresses, our parishes will be restructured to better serve
the needs of our communities, but the results will not be cookie-cutter. In
fact, each grouping of parishes will be asked to discover the best ways to build up the king-
dom of God in light of the unique situations of their families and neighborhoods. In the end, it
is hoped that the Church, the Body of Christ, will grow and flourish as we focus on how God
is life is alive in us. What gifts has God planted in your heart that can allow his love and good-
ness to be shared with others? Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay in-
formed.

RCIA FOR MID-MON VALLEY

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a communal process of spiritual and edu-
cational formation for adults who seek to become full members of the Roman Catholic
Church. Once again this year, the parishes of the mid-Mon Valley will be offering an RCIA
program for Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi, Our Lady of the Valley in Donora and
St. Damien of Molokai in Monongahela. All those interested in pursuing membership in the
Church, in completing their sacraments of initiation, or as a refresher for those already in
the Catholic faith are encouraged to consider participation. The program will begin on Mon-
day, October 2nd of this year. Interested persons from St. Damien should contact Fr. Bill at
the parish office for specific information.
