THE STRIP !3
Thank You!
!
Thank you for purchasing The Strip!
!
The Strip is a channel strip plug-in designed to control the fundamental signal processors found
on most analogue and digital mixing consoles.
!
The strip has been designed to run with minimal impact on your CPU, therefore allowing you to
apply the plug-in to every channel.

THE STRIP !4
Getting Started
!
The Strip is supported by most major Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) (ProTools, Logic, Reaper
etc.) and can be installed on both PC and Mac.
!
The plug-in is available in VST, AU, RTAS and AAX for Mac OSX and VST, RTAS and AAX formats
for Windows.
!
Please follow the installation instructions and read through the manual to make the most of the
product.

THE STRIP !5
Installation
!
Before being able to use the plug-in you must copy the appropriate format version of the plug-in
into your preferred DAWs respective directory. You may have to rescan your plug-ins directory or
restart your DAW if The Strip is not automatically recognised.
!
See the appendix if you are unsure which DAW requires which version of the plug-in.
!
!
Windows
!
Depending on the version of your operating system / DAW, use either the 32-bit or the 64-bit
version of the plug-in.
!
vST
To install the VST, copy the file, TheStrip.vst to your VST directory.
!
Unless you have specified otherwise, this should be: C:\Program Files\Steinberg
\VSTPlugins!
!
If you have specified another directory for your VST plug-ins then copy TheStrip.dll to that
location and ensure your DAW is pointed to that directory.
!
rtAS
To install the RTAS version of The Strip, copy TheStrip.dpm and TheStrip.rsr to your RTAS
plug-ins directory.
!
This directory should be C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plugins
!
AAX
To install the AAX version of The Strip, copy TheStrip.aax to your default AAX plug-in
directory.
!
This directory should be by default: C:\Program Files\Avid\Audio\Plugins

THE STRIP !6
Mac oSX
!
The Strip requires a minimum operating system of OSX 10.6 or higher to function.
!
Both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version of the plug-in is included in a single*, respective
plug-in file.
!
vST
To install the VST, copy the file, TheStrip.vst to your VST directory.
!
Unless you have specified otherwise, this should be: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST!
!
If you have specified another directory for your VST plug-ins then copy TheStrip.vst to that
location and ensure your DAW is pointed to that directory.
!
Au
To install the VST, copy the file, TheStrip.component to your VST directory.
!
Unless you have specified otherwise, this should be: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/
Components!
!
rtAS
To install the RTAS version of The Strip, copy TheStrip.dpm to your RTAS plug-ins directory.
!
This directory should be ~/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins
!
AAX
To install the AAX version of The Strip, copy TheStrip.aax to your default AAX plug-in
directory.
!
This directory should be by default: ~/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-
Ins!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
!
! *The RTAS version (TheStrip.dpm) is exclusively 32-bit.

THE STRIP !7
Controls
!
The Strip can be divided into four key sections:
EQ
Gate
Compressor
Input / Output
!
To activate or switch-in a section, if not active by default, click the respective LED which should go
green once active.
!
Drag the mouse vertically to alter the value of each individual pot. As the pot is turned, a
numerical value will be displayed. Holding ctrl on the keyboard will increase the precision of the
drag, enabling fine-tuning. Double clicking the control will return the pot to its default position.
!
!
EQ
!
The EQ consists of a HPF and a LPF, a HF and LF shelf filter and three
parametric filters.
!
Each filter can be switched in and out individually as well as
collectively.
!
The HF and LF shelving filters have a gain control of 12dB and a
frequency control.
!
The HMF, MF and LMF have gain controls, filter controls as well as a
quality or Q control.
!
When each filter is switched-in yet all the gain controls are set to 0dB,
harmonic distortion will be applied to the incoming signal as would
be found in most analogue channel strips such as the Neve 1073.

THE STRIP !8
ExpANDEr / Gate
!
The gate consists of a threshold, range, attack, release and
meter.
!
With the gate you can separate low-level noise from the
signal. This is commonly used for processing pop drums i.e.
removing the spill of a snare drum from a kick microphone.
!
Whenever the incoming signal falls below the threshold, the
signal is attenuated by a fixed amount of gain. The
attenuation is dependent on the range control.
!
!
The attack and release controls, control the fade-in and fade-out time given by the attack and
release times respectively.
!
The LED meter displays the amount of attenuation to the incoming signal.
!
!
Compressor / Limiter
!
The compressor consists of a threshold control, ratio, attack,
release and VU meter.
!
When the incoming signal exceeds the threshold it is
attenuated depending on the ratio. The attack dictates the
time over which the signal becomes attenuated. Once the
signal falls below the threshold, the attenuation is smoothly
increased to 0dB over a time set by the release.
!
The ratio dictates the amount the incoming signal is
attenuated by.
!
The amount of attenuation is displayed graphically by the
VU meter.

THE STRIP !9
Input / output
!
The input / output section allows the input and output gain
to be controlled by their respective controllers.
!
The Phase Invert button inverts the phase of the incoming
signal. This can be used to check the phase of several
signals (i.e. kick drum microphone and overheads).
!
The Comp > EQ button switches the signal path so that the
signal will go through the compressor section before the
EQ.
!
!
Oversampling is advised to be left switched on. Oversampling doubles the sample rate of the
audio within the plug-in. This is to reduce aliasing caused by non-linearities, this can occur when
non-linearities are generated at a higher frequency than the sample rate of the project and are
reflected around this point.
