I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students are able to:
1. Understand the importance of maintaining fish freshness.
2. Identify the methods of catching fish.
3. Acquire skills in using fish net to catch fish.

Types of Fish Nets:
1. Seines
2. Trawls
3. Gill Net
e. Unlocking of Difficulties:
= Aqua- refers to water
= Fresh water Fish: dalag, hito, tilapia, etc.
= Salt water Fish: bangus, galunggong, lapu-lapu, etc.
B. Motivation: Picture Presentation

C. Lesson Proper:
Preservation of fish products requires considerable care to maintain
its freshness. Aquatic products are mostly perishable and should be
given proper attention, one may profit much from it by maintaining their
nutritive value. Fish are very perishable commodity and should be
frozen immediately on the spot as they are harvested.

Methods of Catching Fish:


1. Collecting by Hands - catching fish by bear manual using the hands.
2. Live Fishing the use of bait or lure to attract and catch fish.
3. Trapping a small basketlike or cage like made from wood, wire or
plastic to trap the fish.
4. Bog Nets a small scoop net or big straw nets with wings anchored
on boats or vessels.
5. Dragged gear used gear to drag in shallow waters.
6. Gill net nets anchored or fixed be stakes and allowed to drift freely
with or without a fishing boat.
7. Fish pen a square or rectangular pen constructed in shallow lakes;
the sides are enclosed with nets.

IV. Generalization:

A person can culture fish in his own backyard. But first, he must learn the
basic knowledge about fish culture.
Fish are perishable products they should be handle carefully to keep them
freshness.
Nets are helpful tools to catch fish.

V. Evaluation:

Name one (1) method of catching fish that is suitable to use in fish pond and river
and explain why such is best to use.

VI. Assignment:

A. Look for more pictures of different fish pens in the internet and print some.
B. Read about inland water resource we have in the country.
