Can you guess what time of the year do the eagle lays her eggs?

If no,
then this story will reveal it for you and if you have guessed it right then this
story will tell you why.

Dear Orators and Guests, I want you all to travel back to the times when
you enjoyed the fables and folk tales narrated or at times even enacted to
you by your grandmother or grandfather.

So our story for the day is a Greek folk tale and dates back to the times
when Lord Zeus, of Olympia was the king of the gods and all animals
including humans could speak one language.

It was a warm summer evening, the Mama eagle was out in the wood to
catch a prey to feed her hatchlings. As she was flying high she could fix her
eyes on a white hare amongst the bushes, the hare was busy nibbling the
tender grass shoots. Seeing the hare steady for long, the eagle dived to
grab the hare. Now this was like bolt from blue for the hare, but hare was
quick to notice something rushing towards her and started running helter
and skelter. As the hare was being chased, she ran up to her old friend the
dung beetle and begged the beetle to save her. The beetle pleaded to
Eagle for his friends life as he would know the mama hare had to feed her
younger ones back home. But the eagle brushed the beetle aside with a
flick of his wing and grabbed the hare, tearing him to pieces and took away
the hare in her mighty talons.

The beetle was enraged at this site and swore to avenge his friends death.
He searched the high and lows of the Crete valley for Eagle's nest and one
day found the nest where the Eagle laid her eggs. After ensuring the eagle
had gone, the beetle rolled out all eagle eggs and dropped them one by
one to crack. When the eagle returned, she was dreadfully upset and
devastated at the site of smashed eggs. But there was very little she could
do.

When it was time for the eagle to nest again, she put her eggs higher up in
the ridges of the mountains. But the determined Beetle flew all the way up
to the nest, smashed the eggs, and not once regretting his actions. This
went on and on for seasons. The eagle grieved for her little ones and
thought that this must be the result of some angry plot of Zeus to
exterminate the eagle race. So when the next season came, the eagle went
up to Zeus and asked if she could keep her eggs in his lap. The eagle said
to Zeus, Someone is destroying my eggs every time and I am clueless as
to why someone would do this to me; so this time, I am leaving them here
under your protection and Zeus agreed to help. The beetle soon found out
what the eagle had done, and so stuffed him with dung and went straight
up to Zeus and buzzed around Zeus's head. At the sight of this filthy
creature, Zeus was startled and leaped to his feet, forgetting that he held
the eagle's eggs in his lap. There they go; the eggs fell on the ground and
cracked. One more time, the beetle had its revenge.

When Zeus questioned Beetle intentions, he learned what wrong had been
done to the beetle and his friend hare. As the eagle returned, Zeus said to
him, It is only right that you have lost your little ones, since you mistreated
the beetle and showed no mercy for the hare. But he did not want Eagle to
suffer either, so he turned towards beetle and urged him to stop this, Eagle
has suffered greatly, you have avenged the death of your friend and now
it's time to make peace". But the bug refused to budge; I will not cease
until I have punished the eagle completely! and he flew away.

Zeus being the king of Gods, did not want the race of eagles to be wiped
out, and had no choice but to change the seasons so that Eagle now only
laid her eggs in the spring, when the Beetles laid buried deep down.

Although the Force is all conquering but its victory is short lived, no
animal on the planet is insignificant however small he or she is.
