IMPORTANT NOTES AND GUIDELINES

Objectives
The objective of this assignment is to enable students to demonstrate their appreciation and
understanding of basic principles and sources of Malaysian contract law.

Learning Outcome
At the end of the assignment:
1. Students should be able to comprehend and explain the sources and principles of contract law.
2. Students should be able to learn the correct report writing format and skills.

Requirements
You are required to present a written assignment on the following topic:

Not all agreements are contracts even though all contracts are agreements. Discuss the essential
elements constitutes a valid and enforceable contract.

Support your answer with relevant laws or case.

FORMAT OF SUBMISSION

1) This will be a group assignment consist of 5 (FIVE) of less members.


2) The report must be typed and presented in A4 size paper. Font size Times New Roman 11,
margins 2.5cm top/bottom, 3.5cm left margin, 2.5cm right margin, spacing 1.5, justified
paragraph.
3) The report must incorporate:
a) a table of content with relevant page number
b) introduction
c) report content
d) conclusion which may include recommendation
e) a reference list

4) A minimum of 2,000 words is required for the report content. No maximum words but must
not exceed 20 pages to discuss the topic.
5) For late submission, there will be a reduction of absolute marks from the marks score
submitted:
Late 1 to 3 days after deadline of submission: minus 10 marks;
Late 4 to 7 days after deadline of submission: minus 20 marks;
Late more than 7 days after deadline of submission: 0 marks
6) The report must be well structured and flow logically to form a single written work.
7) Students are strongly advised to use their judgement not to provide redundant and non-relevant
information.
8) Students are required to bind the assignment using comb binding with plastic cover on the front
and back, in the following sequence:
a) Assignment front cover, complete with all information properly typed
b) Group Assignment Brief
c) Rubric Assessment for Report & Presentation
d) Marking scheme for Report & Presentation with name & student ID properly typed
e) Report content
9) All information gathered and analyzed must be presented according to the format.
10) Plagiarism is not allowed and will be penalised. Please quote the sources that you have obtained
according to Harvard referencing format to avoid plagiarism.
11) Students shall be responsible for organising their own group resources to meet the requirements.
12) Students are encouraged to ask any questions pertaining to this assignment during lectures or
tutorials if they have any doubts or ambiguities.
