Site Water Balance
check that things add up. Then do the same activity for a period of time when the factory was shut e.g. kings birthday.

Leaks Are there any unaccounted? Could this be a big leak? Check the fire mains!

1. Does everything that goes through the ROs need to go through them?

Pre-treatments 2. Whats the efficiency? 85% or higher can be achieved as standard

3. What happens to the reject / backwash? Does that need to go through the ETP? Can that be reused in another process e.g. boilers / CT to avoid fresh water?

CIP Are you recovering 3rd wash for 1st purge? Ecolab / Diversay will be able to help with this

COP & hoses Make sure theres triggers on the hoses

Are you recycling blowdown, have the site installed 3D-Trasars?

Cooling Towers
If not, please talk to Nalco / GE Water for an assessment of the CT efficiencies

Boilers / steam Check condensate recovery, steam traps etc.

Pasteurisers and
Make sure theres no once through cooling water
Vitalines

ETP How are you mixing chemicals, water for cleaning ETP, Check that you are not using water to dilute effluent at the point of discharge (v. bad practice).

Irrigation Are we irrigating with fresh water?

Look at the site shut down weekends / holidays what does the site baseload look like? How do we get this to zero? Whats left on when there is no operation? If youre
Baseload
running at 70% efficiency does that mean you have 2 day shutdown?
