Academic Projects (M.Tech Thesis Profile):

Thesis: MODIFY AODV ALGORITHM FOR BETER BANDWIDTH USE AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION
CAPACITY IN DIFFERENT SCENERIO TO BALANCE THE NETWORK.
 Description: The thesis has considered modifying AODV algorithm of mobile nodes in a mobile
ad hoc network in different scenario. In this thesis we compared the performance of Ad-hoc On-
Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocols in a network where each participating mobile
node has a given battery life and will shut-down when a threshold is reached. A major issue with
ad-hoc networks is energy consumption since nodes are usually mobile and battery-operated. At
higher bandwidth wireless network simulators results may not evaluate the routing protocols
correctly. However, lower bandwidth may result in realistic simulation results. To providing better
energy consumption models that also account for caching and processing of data packets, we
believe that this energy-constraint model can also be beneficial to the performance analysis of
energy-aware protocols. I have performed the simulation in Network Simulator version 2 or NS-2
by changing the number of mobile nodes and the size of the topology changes the mobile node
density. NS2 results were much closer especially at higher bandwidth. One cannot tell the best one
for every possible scenario is. There are many factors that can be changed and their impact should
be investigated. Unfortunately the scope of this project made it impossible to deal with more than a
part of these interesting issues.
