onthedatalinesatbothendsofthedatalines.Theterminatingresistorsarelocatedinthecontrol
units.Ifonlyonecontrolunitisconnectedatabusdriver,theconnectionsatthebusdriverandatthe
controlunitalsohaveaterminatingresistor.

Synchronization

Inordertorealizethesynchronousdesignofindividualfunctionsinnetworkedcontrolunits,a
commontimebaseisrequired.Asallcontrolunitsworkinternallywiththeirownclockgenerator,
thetimesynchronizationmustbedoneviathedatabus.Thecontrolunitsmeasuretheperiodof
certainsynchronizationbits,calculatethemeanvalueandadapttheirbuscycletothisvalue.The
synchronizationbitsaresentinthestaticpartofthebusmessage.Thesynchronizationstartsinthe
FlexRayafterthesystemstartbetweentwocontrolunitsthatareauthorisedtoperformwake-up
function(markedwith"S"inthebusoverview),oncetheBodyDomainControllerhassentawake-
uppulse.Whenthisprocessiscompleted,theothercontrolunitslogonattheFlexRayandcalculate
theirrespectivedifferencevalue.Inaddition,amathematicalcorrectionofthesynchronizationis
doneduringoperation.Itisthusguaranteedthateventheslightesttimedifferencesdonotleadto
transmissionerrorsoveralongerperiod.
