1-INTRODUCTION
1-Introdection
The purpose of this method is to establish procedures for the execution

of bored cast - in situ working piles and working piles as required for this
project.

Bored Piles having diameter 1000mm with a drilling length:

Setting Out Pile Points

1. The piling work will be carried out from a working platform cut
off level of pile. The working platform will be made main
contractor with suitable hardcore material for the movement of
the equipment and ready mix concrete trucks.
2. The center of the pile will be marked by the main contractor in

the site this is in accordance with the approved pile layout
drawing.
We use Total Station instrument to survey each pile point.

Introduction
This method statement outlines procedures for construction

of bored cast-in-situ reinforced concrete piles for working pile .
A crawler mounted piling rig will be used to install cast-in-situ piles

With a diameter of 1000mm.The sequence of the construction of bored
reinforced concrete piles consist of the following main steps:
a. Pile location setup
b. Installation of temporary guide casing
c. Drilling of pile borehole
d. Reinforcement cage installation
e. Tremie Pipe Installation
f. Concrete of pile
g. Removing of temporary guide casing
A. Pile location Setup

Prior to the rig setup at the pile location existing utilities, obstacles or
other underground services (telephone lines, electric cables, drainage
system etc.) are to be removed or relocated.
The piling rig will drill from working platform level. The working
platform and access to pile location shall be mode with suitable hardcore
material for the movement of the equipment and ready mixed concrete
truck.
B. Installation of temporary guide casing
A temporary guide casing of an internal diameter slightly more than

diameter of the pile will be installed. The temporary casing shall be

The rotary rigs are utilized in this process. The hole will be drilled by
means of a bucket with an external diameter slightly less than pile
diameter.
After fixing the guide casing the borehole will be drilled down to its
final level. The bucket grabs the soil inside the hole deepens the bore.
The bucket when filled up with soil is lifted from the hole and spoil is
dumped outside. This process continues till the final stratum is reached.

The verticality of the drilled borehole shall be ensured to its full depth
notice any change in the subsoil conditions as per pervious soil
investigation.
E. Reinforcement cage installation
Subsequent to the completion of the drilling, the reinforcement for the

pile shall be according to the requirement of the specification and the
design of the pile.
The reinforcement cages will be fabricated be the main contractor up to
the designed length. The cage should be free from dirt. Durable spacers
shall be used at intervals to keep the reinforcement cage in position.
The pre-fabricated reinforcement cage will be lifted and placed in the

pile borehole using the service crane. The cage will then be lower to keep
the top at designed level.
F. Tremie Pipe Installation

The tremie pipe with funnel shaped hopper will be placed in position at
the top of casing to transport the concrete to the base of the pile.
Generally the tremie pipe elements will be lowered at the center of pile
shaft for its full length. The number of tremie pipe sections will be
determined by the depth of the pile to be concrete.
G. Concrete of pile

Concrete shall be transport from the mixture to the position of the pile
by concrete pump in such a manner that segregation of the mix does not
occur .We will take all necessary precaution to fed throughout the whole
placement process to ensure a smooth operation.
The service crane will be used to lift the tremie pile the pile shaft and
stopped on the casting platform in order to achieve a complete
homogenous casting height ,casting will continue till over flow of good
clean concrete.
H. Removing of temporary guide casing
After concreting, the guide casing will be withdrawn by the piling rig
by crane or by shovel or by all of them in same time. A sufficient head
Concrete will be maintained to prevent reduction in diameter of pile shaft
by earth pressure.
Spoil from drilling of borehole shall be removing from site

designated disposal areas by the main contractor.

4. HEALTH & SAFETY ACCESS & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

4.1. Generalities
All people working on site must follow an appropriate safety
induction.
No person under the age of 18 is allowed on site.
A Job Safety Analysis has to be prepared by the supervisor and to
be updated regularly.
All mobile plant on site needs a third party certification.
A permit to work, with attached relevant (utilities) drawings shall be
issued before the commencing of any excavation work.
4.2. Health & Safety

The Works Engineer is responsible to brief and organize the training
for the workers with support of and in coordination with the Safety
Team and the Construction Manager.
A pre-task briefing must be held by the Works Engineer with the
workers every time before the start of the work and the following
questions need to be asked and actions to be taken:
Tell men tasks in steps;
Who does what;
What are the hazards and risks;
Which measures to take;
Does everybody have the suitable PPE;

Does everyone understands his job;
What went wrong yesterday what can be improved today;
Some particular preventive measures should be taken before pile
excavation starts:
Only designated trained personnel shall guide the rig/crane
operator while moving and lifting.
Working platform shall always be well compacted and level prior to
moving of
heavy equipment.
Barricade, tape, safety net and adequate warning signs to be used
around the excavations as required by the location of works. A
suitable edge protection will be provided wherever there is a risk of

person / traffic falling into excavations.

All equipment must be in good condition and will be inspected

before being allowed onto site.
All equipment must be fitted with an automatic, operational
reversing alarm and must be operated by operators with a valid
operator license.
Work area should be protected at night time with warning lights.

All workers dealing with concrete shall wear gloves.
Only the foreman shall guide the crane operator for moving the
tremie pipes.

attached Risk
Assessment (in attachment).
After excavation of pile its should be covered temporary with pile
cover to avoid anything falling.
Removal of excavation material from site should be continuously.
Safety PPE & (first add box) should be fixed with site.
During welding, Fire extinguisher with trolley should be available.
