(Chapter 3-Using the primary handset/Settings BGAN Coverage MAP W 982 E252 E 143.52 Satellite Selection BGAN service across the globe is covered by three of Inmarsat’ “14” satellites namely, «4 Americas, I-4 EMEA and I-4 Asia Paci “Satellite Selection” in an option in the Satlink FB250 terminal, which allows user to select his/her preferred satellite for terminal oper- ation. The terminal is set to “Auto” satellite selection mode by default, which is the recommended mode of operation. In “Auto” mode, the ter- minal will scan the sky and then registered to any one of the satellite that is visible and gives better elevation angle. If the user manually selects one of the 3 satellites, then the terminal will be forced to lock to that selected satellite if itis visible. If itis not visible, the user will be given a warning. If the user still proceeds to select the invisible satellite, then the terminal will continue to search for this particular satellite for ever until the selected satellite becomes visible, regardless of other visible satellites. Switching from one satellite to another satellite will force the existing active calls (CS and PS) to disconnect. When in “Auto” mode, when the vessel is moving out of one satel- lite and enters into another satellite's coverage area, then terminal will lose its connection with the first satellite and will reacquire and regis- ter with the new satellite in coverage. During this satellite changeover process, all existing voice/fax calls and data connections will be dis- connected. Please take note wwwsatinges # 53 119 Na Hs
