SUBJECT: RESOLUTIONESTABLISHINGTHEENDOFLOGBAYDAYANDAUTHORIZING
THELAKEGEORGEPARKCOMMISSIONMARINEPATROLTOCLOSELOG
BAYANDSHELVINGROCKBAYFORTHEDAY

WHEREAS TheLakeGeorgeParkCommissionisestablishedbyArticle43ofthe
EnvironmentalConservationLaw(ECL)to,amongotherthings,
preserve,protectandenhancetheuniquenatural,scenicbeautyof
LakeGeorge,andtoregulatetheuseofthelakeforappropriate
specifiedpurposes;and

WHEREAS LogBayDayisanunofficialgatheringthatgenerallytakesplaceonthe
lastMondayofJulyinShelvingRockBayandLogBay;and

WHEREAS Theeventhasincreaseddramaticallyinsizeandscopesinceits
inceptionsuchthatin2016itattractedmorethan300vesselsand
morethan800participants;

WHEREAS Inthepastseveralyears,theeventhasbecomedisruptivecreatinga
needforadditionalmarinepatrolandlawenforcementpresenceto
respondtonumerousreportsofdisorderlyanddangerousconduct,
personalinjuries;propertydamage;andpollution,amongothers,and

WHEREAS in2016,ayounggirlwastragicallykilledinaboatingaccidentafterthe
driveroftheboatthatstruckherhadbeenatLogBayDayandanother
youngmanwasparalyzedafterjumpingoffaboatatLogBayDay;and

WHEREAS theeventhasbecomeathreattothepublicsafetyandhealthand
welfareofLakeGeorgeanditsusers;

NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDthattheLakeGeorgeParkCommissionhereby
resolvesthattheeventcalledLogBayDayposesadangertothehealthandsafetyof
thelakeanditsusersandshallnolongerbetoleratedonLakeGeorge;and

BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthatLogBayandShelvingRockBay,shallbeclosedtothe
motorizedboatingpubliconLogBayDayandnomotorizedvesselsshallbeallowed
accesstothosebaysfromsunrisetosunsetonsuchday;and

BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthattheLakeGeorgeLawEnforcementDirector,the
ExecutiveDirector,staffandcounselareherebyauthorizedtotakeanylawful
measurestoenforcethisdirective;and

BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthattheLakeGeorgeLawEnforcementDirector,the
ExecutiveDirector,staffandcounsel,shallcauseallrelevantstateandlocalagencies
tobenotifiedofthisresolution.
