Our scholars spend the large part of their day with us, so we need to ensure that we provide them with a welcoming learning
environment that promotes inquiry, responsibility, and pride. The type of classroom environment that a teacher creates and
encourages can either increase or decrease a student's ability to learn and feel comfortable as a member of the class. 1 Below are
the expectations for setting up your classroom.

*Space needs to be labeled prior to Meet the Teacher Night and updated at least once a unit
Bulletin Board Outside of Door:
Tutoring Hours (You will set these in your PLC)
Space for classroom announcements
Which lunch your classes have on A days and B days
NOTE: Leave some blank space for other items you will want to post for your scholars throughout the year so that we can keep the walls free of
staples and tape marks
College Door:
In order to promote a college-going environment, all staff need to decorate their door with information regarding the college or university they
attended. Get creative! Below is a list of must-haves and an optional list, but you can decorate with additional items that are not on the list
below. There will be a competition judged by the scholars with a reward of a gift basket worth $50!
Must Haves:
Name of the university you attended
University mascot
University colors
Location of university
Number of students that attend the university
Your favorite fun-fact about the university
Optional:
Major
Minor
Pictures from college
Pennant
List of university traditions
Floaters:
Although floaters will not have their own classroom, it is important that their scholars know the learning objective for the day and
how the lesson integrates the various IB components so that they can properly frame their learning. Therefore, floaters need to
include the following information in their PPT deck on a daily basis. 2
Date (With A/B Day)
Daily Objective
The units global context, key concept, and related concepts
The units statement of inquiry
Daily agenda
IB Learner Profile Trait
Homework
The team of floaters should work together to decide how they want to decorate their door so that all colleges/universities the
floater team attended are accounted for.
There will be space available to floaters to post the following information outside of the floaters office.
Tutoring Hours (You will set these with your GLT)
Classroom announcements
Which lunch your classes have on A days and B days

Floaters have autonomy on how they want to incorporate the material into the slide deck, but the components above must be
explicitly stated. A suggestion is to create a slide(s) template that you include the information on, save it, and then just insert and
update with each lesson.
