1. Received the test request from the cashier after payment.
2. The Medical Technologist confirm the name and age of the patient, check the spelling by asking the patient. 3. Properly label the test tubes to be used of the name of the patient according to the test requested. 4. Inform the patient ready of the procedure and select the proper site for blood extraction, disinfect the site with cotton wet with 70% alcohol prior to the procedure. 5. Extract blood from the patient considering the amount of sample according to the patients requests. 6. Prepare the sample ready for examination. Let it stand to clot for serum sample and for the tube with anticoagulant do the mixture by tilting the tube few times to prevent clotting of the sample. 7. Centrifuge the blood after it clot and separate the serum from blood to the other clean test tube with properly labelled by the name of the patient. 8. Prepare the blood chemistry reagents, take it out from the refrigerator and allow it to cool at room temperature. 9. Switch on the Chemistry machine MapLab TC 84 Plus and let it run the calibration and blanking until it beep and ready to run the test. 10. The Medical Technologist should perform the Chemistry Quality Control using pathologic and non- pathologic sample every first week of the month of all the chemistry test procedures to ensure the accuracy of the test results. 11. The results in every test are recorded, get their average and Standard Deviation (SD) and plot each results in the graph. 12. In Chemistry machine select the number of test according to the patients request. 13. Using micropipettes, measure the reagents and sample. Example: The request is test for Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) FBS Test Procedure: 1. Measure 1000ul of Glucose reagent and put it in the cuvette tube. Prepare blank solution for the test. 2. Select the Glucose test number in the machine and follow the instruction of the machine. 3. After setting the test number, the machine will ask to insert the blank reagent. Put the blank reagent into the cuvette and insert into the flow cell inside and press read. 4. The machine will then ask to insert the sample after the blank. 5. Add 10ul sample to the 1000ul glucose reagent in the cuvette tube and put it in the incubator on the machine and incubate it for 5 minutes. 6. After 5 minutes incubation, the cuvette tube will be inserted into the flow cell of the machine and press read. 7. The machine will display the result of the reading in the monitor and in the print out. 8. Take note the result of the test and write it down and record it in the logbook. 9. Please refer the other chemistry tests procedure below. 10.Encode the results and double check the print out prior to signature of the Medical Technologist and the Pathologist signature and put it in the releasing box ready for release. 11. The time duration of each chemistry test is 15-20 minutes including the 5 minutes incubation. Therefore the Medical Technologist can do 15-25 chemistry tests in 8 hours shift. 12. After the test save the specimen in the refrigerator for 24 hours before disposal for any followup test request.
