This research aimed to determine the impact of inquiry-based experiment methods on students' critical and creative thinking skills in a temperature and heat materials class. The study used a pretest-posttest control group design with first grade students. Test results showed that the experimental class which used inquiry-based experiments had significantly higher gains in both critical and creative thinking skills compared to the control class which used verifying experiments. Therefore, the study concluded that inquiry-based experiments are more effective at improving critical and creative thinking skills than verifying experiments.

to critical thinking skill and creative in temperature and heat material. It was used True Experiment Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. First grade students of MAN Sigli was as sample. Collecting data was conducted by giving pretest and posttestto creative and critical thinking skill in temperature and heat material. Normality test result and homogeneity showed that distributed data was normal and homogeneous in both classes. N-gain results of both classes critical thinking skill showed that thitung = 7,076 > ttabel = 2,001 which meaned that there is significant difference between experimental class and control class. Besides, N-gain results of both classes creative thinking skill showed that thitung = 2,349 > ttabel = 2,001 which meaned that there is significant difference between experimental class and control class. So, it is concluded that using inquiry-based experiment in learning is able to improve creative and critical thinking skill than verifying experiment method.
