The following is one way you can connect to what it is that you DO want in your life,
2 Merged Questions
and disconnect from the beliefs and self-talk responsible for manifesting that which
Edits
you do not.

At least ninety-ve percent of your daily activities are governed by your subconscious
mind. So it is probably a good idea to stop the deprecating self-talk; and, to start
engaging in supportive and positive self-talk. This is especially true if you want more
fulllment for the most important person in your life. That's you!

Let's change the beat

Immediately cease comparing your behind-the-scenes with everyone else's highlight
reel.

Stop, and look up

Accept where you are and realize that it is perfectly okay to be where you are. And if
you do not like where you are, remember: everyone falls in their own way. As
Mohamed Ali once said, "There ain't nothin' wrong with going down. It's stayin' down
that's wrong." Demonizing your perceived situation and beating yourself up for it, is
only going to dis-empower you. It is time to start thinking and treating yourself
dierently.

Grab on to your goal

Write down your overall goal, or your most important goal at the moment. It is
extremely important that you write it in the form of a positively arming statement
of what you DO want. It's time to focus on the positive, exclusively.

Visual verication
Write down three things that you will see in your life which will serve as evidence that
you have reached your goal. Again, positive armations of what you DO want, only.

Auditory validation

7/7/2017 (1) How do I use affirmations? - Quora

Write down one thing you will hear other people say to you when they see that you
have reached your goal. Next, write down what you will say to yourself when you see
this goal manifest, in your life.

Kinesthetic conrmation
This next part might seem a little unusual, but this is how your subconscious relates
and stores information (in addition to the visual and auditory); it is very important.
Write what you will feel when you see the evidence in your life. Then, write down
what you will feel when you hear external validation that you have reached your goal;
and then what you will feel when you hear validation from yourself. If there was ever
a time in your life when you've felt these feelings before, choose the most potent one,
and connect to that feeling. Close your eyes if you need to. Then begin to associate
that feeling with your new goal. If you cannot nd a feeling to connect to, think back
to one discrete moment when you've felt at your very best and use that feeling.

Conscious acknowledgement
As you associate this feeling with your new goal, and as you feel it, notice where in
your body you feel it most and write it down. During this part of the process, if you
sense a color, a shape or form, a smell, or a tactile sensation write these things down
as well. This is kinesthetic information which your subconscious will also use to
reorient you toward your new goal.

Summarize the goal

If it isn't already, convert this goal into a belief statement. For instance, if my new goal
were to possess a greater sense of self-worth, my belief statement might be, "I do my
best, and my best is always good enough."

It needs to be simple and something that you can emotionally connect to.

Repetitive cognitive re-calibration

Once you have your belief statement, write it down and post it somewhere you will
see it every day. And when you wake in the morning, write it down ve (5) times
within the rst ve minutes of waking. During this time, the veil between your
conscious and subconscious is at its thinnest. So keep a pen and notepad or journal of
some sort next to your bed so you can do this.

Resistance is fertile.
Here is another very important part. If you hear or feel any internal opposition to this
new belief, that is GREAT. Let it come. In fact, welcome it. It is resistance to the new
belief. And the more something resists, the more it gives its power to what and whom
it is resisting. And in turn, when you accept the opposing thoughts and feelings
instead of ght them o, you bypass fear and transform that negative impulse into
something which feeds your goal. This is how you take your power back. Eventually,
the opposition will stop and all that will remain is the new paradigm. This will be your
conrmation that the change has taken place at the subconscious level.

Repeat the 'Repetitive cognitive re-calibration' process for as many days as necessary
until the resistance to the new belief subsides, or until you experience the change in
your life. Making adjustments in your personal, social and professional environments
to support the new belief will also help to accelerate and root the change.

Things are always working out for me

Slow never fails to arrive

Im on my path

However, in order for it to seem real you will need to be more specic in what you say,
closer to what you desire.

The trick is to keep the armation balanced in your choice of words (which will keep
the vibration balanced). Get too general in your choice of words and it wont seem
real. Get too specic, you risk bringing resistant thoughts, feelings which will derail
your eorts. Only you know the balance that works for you. I call it the gas pedal,
brake pedal approach speed up your specicity until it feels out of control, then get
more general (brake pedal).

To me, the key to armations is not just in the mere repeating of your chosen
armation but in working on believing it.

Starting out with mere repetition does work for a beginning and if you have to do that
for days on end, that's ne.

Eventually, you will likely nd yourself beginning more attached and connected to
your armation, it will start to have more meaning.

Sometimes it helps to use them while looking at yourself in the mirror.

You can use any phrase you want but I nd making up your own works better, nd the
phrase or thought that you connect with, that you feel in your gut and use that.

Before you know it, this phrase will become like an anchor for you, something for you
to automatically fall back on when needed. A positive or safe thought or idea that
your mind will automatically connect to when needed.

When one armation is set, if you like, you can move onto more armations to
create more anchors.

them.

Think about it; what are armations really?

Often they are blanket statements of something one wishes to be true.

If it was already true, would you need to be repeating it like a mantra?

If it was already a well understood fact, would you be convincing yourself of it as a

reality?

Lets look at some common ones:

https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-use-affirmations 3/5
7/7/2017 (1) How do I use affirmations? - Quora

I am a good person

Things always work out for me

What I want will come to me if I focus on it

Is anyone a good person all the time? If we are honest with ourselves: no. Nobody is
good all the time. It's a momentary state at best. Why be obsessed with a momentary
state as if it is a perpetual condition? If you tell yourself this and then are honest with
yourself, you'll realise you are arming things which are not true. So are you trying to
convince yourself of things which aren't true?

It sure seems that way to me.

The same with the other two. They aren't possibly true. When you are constantly
arming things to yourself which are not true, a couple of things are likely to happen.
You'll become disappointed in yourself for failing to live up to your own mantra
(which lets face it: none of us are perfect), and you'll begin to be focused on how you
are not living up to these unrealistic expectations.

If you want to tell yourself things make them meaningful.

Dene your ethics, and tell yourself you understand your purpose for existing (but
only after you actually do). Tell yourself you are consistent with your ethics (if you
require reminding of this). It's far better to simply be consistent with your purpose
and ethics then spend your time telling yourself you are.

You asked for my answer, this is probably not what you expected; but it is my
thoughts on the useless, potentially self destructive thing which are armations.
