Content Standard Addressed: Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the chemical and
physical properties of matter resulting from the ability of atoms to form bonds.
a.Plan and carry out an investigation to gather evidence to compare the physical and chemical
properties at the macroscopic scale to infer the strength of intermolecular and intramolecular
forces.
Technology Standard Addressed: Knowledge Constructor Students critically curate a variety of resources
using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning
experiences for themselves and others.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will be responsible completing the flipped classroom assignment the night before. The Flipped
Classroom assignment will be posted on my EduBlog. The assignment asks for students to watch the video
about lab Oobleck and Non-Newtonian laws, students will be responsible for taking notes throughout the
short video. Students will then created a rough draft of an introduction paragraph, utilizing the information
from the video and video notes. Students will have a grading rubric to follow as they create their introduction
paragraph. There introduction paragraph should be complete prior to coming to class. The next day student
will spend the entire class period conducting a lab experiment to create Oobleck, students should have prior
knowledge of Non-Newtonian Laws and an idea of how to recreate Oobleck because of the video assigned in
the flipped classroom assignment.
Students will work in groups of 4, they will follow the lab instructions to complete the experiment. The
teacher will walk around and answer any questions on misconceptions the students have about the lab. The
teacher is also responsible for ensuring that students are following all lab safety rules and procedures. After
the students complete the lab, they will be responsible for filling out the data charts, answering the analysis

question and conclusion questions. The following two days the students will be focusing on designing a five
part lab report, including an introduction, methods and material, data/ results, and conclusion/analysis and
references. The students will have access to computers to type their lab reports and I will be assisting student
with any questions or misconceptions they might have about the lab report. A grading rubric will be given to
each student to give them the guidelines to follow to complete their lab reports

Importance of technology: The website creation tool is important because it provide students and parents
with information pertaining to the class. It will be difficult to implement the idea of a flipped classroom
without the use of technology. The introduction of a flipped classroom will be based on a paper copy of
directions students need to follow to access the information versus having the link already available to them
via Blog. Using technology is more convenient and differentiated for students and learning .
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing example as a model for your project, (whether I part or whole,
include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: When implementing a Classroom blog, I will be sure to not release any
confidential information about my students such as their names, address, pictures, numbers, or location. If
student work is presented on my blog, I will be sure to get parent consent as well as school and district
consent. Internet Safety Laws such as CIPA, COPPA, and FERPA is essential policies and rules to abide by when
implementing technology in the classroom. I will ensure that I follow the rules to protect me and my
students.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I have not tried created a blog pertaining to my
classroom, but im excited about incorporating a blog for the upcoming school year. I want to try introducing
the flipped classroom. Only downfall I might have is students not having internet access to complete the
assignments .?
