Certifications

In order to get my job at Wingate Wilderness Therapy, I had to go through a week of

training from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM everyday. During this training I was required to go through

a four hour certification course for Positive Control System, which taught us how to restrain

someone and defend ourselves if a student ever tried to attack us or tried to run away and we had

to stop them. We learned most importantly that restraining a student was the last resort and to

always try to calmly talk to them first. We were also required to have our CPR and First Aid

certifications before being able to go out into the field as a staff with students.
