LIQUOR COMMITTEE MEETING June 19, 2017 A regular meeting of the City of Jackson Liquor Committee was held on June 19, 2017 at 5:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall with the following persons in attendance: Liquor Committee members Dave Cushman and Matt Madden, City Administrator Jennifer Bromeland, Liquor Store Manager Michelle Bratrud and Recording Secretary Dave Maschoff. (Liquor Committee member Brandon Finck was absent.) (A quorum of the Liquor Committee was present.) REVIEW OF MAY LIQUOR STORE FINANCIALS Liquor Store Manager Michelle Bratrud reported on the monthly analysis of the liquor store for the month of May, 2017. Bratrud noted in May, 2016, the Highway 71 bridge and road construction project was underway in Jackson. During May of this year, Bratrud noted cooler temperatures occurred, Bratrud reported the guest count was 5,204 in May of this year which was an increase of 44 guests over the May 2016 guest count of 5,160. She said invoices for May totaled $70,379.57 compared to $76,698.27 in May of 2016, a decrease of $6,318.70. Bratrud said total sales for May were $111,545.52 compared to the same month last year of $113,766.92, a decrease of $2,221.40. She reported gross profits were up just over $12,700 for May of this year compared to May of 2016. Bratrud said the average sale per customer was $21.43 in May compared to $22.05 in May of last year, a decrease of .62 cents. Bratrud said there were 26 days of business during May compared to 25 days of business in May of 2016. LIQUOR STORE MANAGER'S REPORT/COMMENTS Cushman asked Bratrud how her new position as liquor store manager has, been going. Bratrud said she likes the position and things have been going well. She commented staffing has been going well and the liquor store has a good computer system in place that is very, very helpful. 1 Bromeland said Bratrud has been doing well. Bratrud noted some changes that may be needed to the liquor store's Facebook page and inquired about how to make those changes. Bromeland said she would look into the process of how to make the changes. REVISIT CONCEPT OF NEW STORE AND DISCUSS NEXT STEPS. Bromeland distributed information compiled by Brandon Finck regarding building costs, debt service, labor, depreciation, additional sales income needed and miscellaneous expenses pertaining to the construction of a new liquor store, Liquor Committee members briefly reviewed the information. The consensus was to go through the figures when Finck was present so he could explain them further. Committee members also briefly reviewed a map of the DP4 area for potential sites for a new liquor store. REVISIT SUNDAY SALES DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY COUNCIL Bromeland asked the Liquor Committee members if they wanted to make an official recommendation to the City Council regarding Sunday liquor sales. Madden asked if any recommendation was needed since the consensus had been that there would be no changes in the liquor store’s days and hours of operation and no Sunday liquor sales. Cushman said no one from the City Council has asked about what the Liquor Committee’s plans were regarding Sunday liquor sales. ADJOURNMENT With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
