TECHNICAL BULLETIN

Replacement procedure for the polygon motor in the


LSU unit.

1. Model Name AR161/163/200/205/206/F200/F201/235/275/ARM160/M205/M236/M276/AL1644

2. General This report describes the replacement procedure for the polygon motor in the LSU unit.

3. Content The procedure is as follows.

(1) Remove the LSU unit from the main unit.


(For the removal procedure, refer to the service
manual of each model.
Notes:
The LED and other parts maybe
damaged by static. Ensure you are
grounded to discharge static before you
proceed.
The LSU is precision equipment, do not
allow any dirt inside the unit.
Be careful not to touch the glass on the
back and the LSU positioning sheet.

(2) Remove the two M3 x 8 star headed screws with a


special screwdriver to remove the LSU cover.
Use a commercially available screwdriver
for star headed screws.
Recommended Torx driver
(No.5400TX T10H-80
Tip size: T10 2.7mm
Blade length: 80mm
Full length: 150mm

Note: Disengage the 10 hooks of the LSU cover
one by one in the shown directiuon

(3) Remove the four M3 x 8P screws to detach the


polygon motor.
Notes:
Prevent the optical axis from being
displaced, do not apply any load to the
LSU PWB.
When removing the M3 x 8P screws be
careful that the screwdriver does not
make contact with the lens.

(4) Lift the polygon motor and remove the connector to


detach the polygon motor.

(5) Plug in the connector of the polygon motor and
insert it into the hole of the housing.
Notes:
Make sure that there is no damage, dust or
fingerprints on the mirror of the polygon motor.
Ground yourself to discharge static before
beginning work.
Make sure that the polygon motor is securely
mounted to the housing.

(6) Mount the polygon motor with the four M3 x 8P


tight screws.
Note:
Tighten the screws in order of 1-4 as shown in
the figure.
Be careful not to damage the mirror or lens by
the screwdriver when tightening the M3 x 8P
screws.

(7) Hold the LSU harness leaving no lifting.


Note: Make sure that the harness-retaining cushion
faces the same direction as it was before the
disassembly (with the notch facing up).

(8) Points to be checked.


Make sure that there is no damage or dust on the
mirror of the polygon motor.
The connector of the LSU harness must be
properly inserted.
Insert the harness-retaining cushion so that the
LSU harness shows no lifting.
Make sure that there is no dust inside the LSU.

(9) Mount the LSU cover to the housing.


Notes:
Do not apply any load to the LSU PWB.
Engage the 10 hooks one by one in the shown
direction.
Check that each hook is securely engaged by
pressing its upper part.

(10) Mount the LSU cover with two M3 x 8 star headed


screws. (A special screwdriver is required.)
Note: Do not over tighten the screws in order not to
lose their grip.

(11) Mount the LSU unit to the main unit.
