Domain F Justification Paper 2

Abstract

The following paper is a justification for the artifacts included within my Professional

Development Quest Portfolio for Domain F: Developing as a Professional Educator. Included

within this justification is a discussion of TPEs 12 and 13 within Domain F. For the three

artifacts included within my PDQP, I have included a discussion for each artifact-supporting

fulfillment of Domain F.

Domain F Justification Paper 3

Domain F (Developing as a Professional Educator) within the California Teaching

Performance Expectations highlights TPEs 12 and 13.TPE 12 (Professional, Legal, and Ethical

Obligations) requires teaching candidates to both be aware and take responsibility for their

personal values within education. (Commission on Teacher Credentialing) Teachers must know

and understand the diversity of their students along with the legal obligations bestowed upon by

them in both federal and state laws. Teaching candidates must also know and understand that it is

their responsibility to establish and maintain a safe environment for all students and model

acceptable behaviors for students, doing so ensure a hostile free environment for students.

(Commission on Teacher Credentialing)

TPE 13 (Professional Growth) requires teaching candidates to evaluate personal growth

and teaching practices within their subject area of teaching in regards to state-adopted academic

content standards. (Commission on Teacher Credentialing) This are of professional growth also

requires teachers reflect on their own strengths and needs as an educator and plan a set of goals

to continue to develop professionally as an educator. Within this TPE teachers will use this

reflection and plan to appropriately increase both subject matter competencies and teaching

effectiveness. (Commission on Teacher Credentialing)

Artifact 1 is an observation conducted my teaching advisor on her final observation of my

performance in the classroom. This observation is a reflection of my own personal growth as an

educator. Comments made by my advisor within this observation highlight my competencies in

domains A-F but most importantly allow for others, and myself the ability to assess my growth

as an educator. I also chose this as an artifact to include within Domain F in order for it to serve

as a foundation for the development of my five-year professional development plan.

Artifact 2 is a signature assignment completed within my quest as an educator,

specifically in completing my teaching credential program,. I have chosen to use this paper as an

artifact for Domain F specifically for TPE 12: Professional, Legal, and Ethical Obligations. I

believe that this paper highlights my competencies within TPE 12 as this paper is a refection of

my understanding and knowledge of educational foundations within the classroom such as an

understanding of equality of opportunity, diversity, and a legal understanding of educational

foundations.

Artifact 3 is a five-year professional growth and development plan. Within this plan I

have developed goals to become a more effective educator over the course of a five-year period.

In this plan, I have identified areas of strength and needs for my personal development as an

educator. Over the period of this plan, I aim to increase my own subject matter competencies in

the classroom along with my abilities in the classroom specifically in regards to classroom

management and organization. I have also included a plan to increase my professional

development using outside sources such as attending educational conferences and seminars as a

means to obtain increased knowledge and competencies as an educator. This five-year

professional development plan aligns with TPE 13: Professional Growth within Domain F as it

demonstrates my ability to reflect and plan on my own personal professional development in my

quest to become an effective educator.
