counselling or a related field (or the equivalent combination

a caring community setting. Preference given to those with a
specialty in childrens expressive therapies.

soil amendment based on access with a large truck/pup combination. Acre-
age should be able to accommodate at least 6 truck/pup loads. The two
major components of Celgrow are individual wood fibres lost from the

Prepare your business for evacuation
If you are on evacuation alert or think you will be put on
evacuation alert, there are some important steps you will
want to consider. If you have an evacuation plan, review
the plan and start the implementation process. If you do
not have an evacuation plan, here are 10 things to consider:
1. Protect Your Information Back up electronic files
using a USB stick, emailing them to yourself, backing up
to an online cloud and grabbing your laptop, external hard
drive, or computer tower if needed.
2. Pack Insurance And Registration Information for
all commercial vehicles in your evacuation kit. For more

3. Preparing For An Insurance Claim take pictures and/
or a video of your business pointing out key equipment. Dont
forget to take a copy of your insurance documents with you.
4. Remove any uncertainty as to what staff should do in
an emergency. Assign tasks to help staff respond as quickly
as possible. Make sure you have their contact information
and out of area contacts.
5. Turn Off Utilities Electrical, gas and water and
remove any fire hazards that may be near the building.
6. Empty cash from your cash register and seal in an
envelope. Sign the envelope, the cash amount and the date
across the seam. If you go to use any of this cash in your
evacuation efforts, be sure to track how much of it you
spend and if it is a business-related expense.
7. Make sure you have a list of links to emergency infor-
mation. A list is provided at the end of this document.

Costly vehicle stop prevents fire
On July 25, Police were following a vehicle on Highway
3A near 8 mile on the north shore of Nelson when the pas-
senger was observed flicking a lit cigarette out the window.
Police saw sparks in the air before the cigarette landed in
tall grass. Fortunately, the grass did not light on fire.
The Surrey woman received a violation ticket for $575.
The driver of the vehicle received a ticket for not having
vehicle insurance and speeding. The vehicle was then
towed. In the current dry environment with a Province-
wide state of emergency declared, we are flabbergasted
that someone could be so careless.

Sustainable Living workshops
Chuckleberry Community Farm a local year-round
commercial producer of microgreens and intentional
community recently created the Chuckleberry Sustain-
able Community and Education Society. As such this
summer the Chuckleberry Community is hosting several
workshops, each with a focus on Emotional Intelligence,
sustainable living and abundant food production.
All workshops take place at Chuckleberry Farm in Bea-
sley, a 15 minute drive from Nelson, amongst a commer-
cial farm and microgreen operation and Zero Net Energy
main building. The community practices Emotional
Intelligence and Non Violent Communication for self-
discovery and healthy community relating. In addition
they strive to have more fun with less consumption and
substances.
Workshop Participants will learn:
How to create your own high yield 4 season inten-
sive gardens
How to produce nutrient rich soils
How to grow year-round microgreens
Skills to adapt natural systems for sustainability such
as solar heating/solar power/solar dehydration as well as
air convection/earth heat sink/earth refrigeration and
rain catchment systems
Emotional intelligence and effective communication skills
Chuckleberry founder Jon Scott and our community
members are eager to share what we are learning as we
explore a more wholesome and eco-friendly way of life.
Maxim Grunin invites workshop participants to enjoy his
abundant, healthy, organic food, prepared daily on site
with Max love and many ingredients right out of Chuck-
leberrys thriving gardens. All participants are welcome to
camp on our farm with access to washrooms and showers.
Upcoming workshops are; Sustainable Living and
Community, August 4, 5 and 6; Four Season Gardening,
August 18 and 19; Adapting Natural Systems, September
8 and 9 and Emotional Intelligence for Sustainable Living,
September 17.
