LAUNCH LAN TECHNOLOGY FAIR-LEASE LANKA (Pvt)

Homework 1

Local area network is basically the data communication network that connects the terminals,
and computers etc. Within 1 building. Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, Gigabit Ethernet are the basic
LAN technologies.

Ethernet is the most commonly used LAN technology. It was standardized by IEEE in 1980. It has
high data collision portability because Ethernet shares media. The Ethernet connector is a 48-bit
MAC address network interface card that helps Ethernet devices communicate with the remote
Ethernet device.

Ethernet technology like other local area network technologies carries data or information
thousands of kilometers away, Ethernet is high speed technology and is specialized its
interconnections are also very high speed which are bound to tons of meters. LAN Ethernet
technology is very useful for providing high-speed access to the network and is useful and is
being used in various ways and in office automation, terminal access, data processing that is
also distributed includes situations requiring connections That are economical to the local media
that carry high traffic at high speeds of peak data. "There are some conditions that require
resistance to various environments, real-time responses without being specifically excluded and
does not include any specific environment for which the f-called Ethernet technology is
developed" (Maynard, 1982).

Many local area network technologies using the ring topology make use of token passing for
synchronized access to the ring. The ring is called as the only shared means of communication.
Whenever the computer or your laptop wants to transmit or pass signals waits for the token.
After the signal is transmitted, the computer transmits the token into the ring. And the next
computer that is ready to transmit or pass receives the token and then transmits. When a
computer wants to transmit it, it waits for a symbol.

FDDI distributed fiber data interface is another LAN technology that transmits data to 100 MBps.
The distributed fiber data interface is not designed or developed or used MAC or is used very
rarely. The distributed fiber data interface is basically part of a large local area network. It can be
used in a variety of ways in a network that helps connect a large number of people working in a
single building.

Another local LAN LAN technology that is developed by Ethernet modification is Gigabit
Ethernet and this concept is very easy to understand. Another technology that is used to achieve
fast access to the Internet is fast Ethernet which is also developed from Ethernet as the simple
Ethernet runs normally at 10 Mbps speed while the fast Ethernet runs at double speed of simple
Ethernet or when 10 Mbps is multiplied by 10 fast Ethernet speed is achieved so fast Ethernet
works at the speed of 100 Mbps and when this is multiplied by 10 we can achieve the Gigabit
Ethernet operating at the speed of 1000 Mbps. As the data passed To the front end of each of
the heads or MAC frames are usually the same. Some capabilities are added, but basically it's
just Ethernet. The two great benefits achieved

Managers or technicians and some vendors provide support to engineers who are familiar
with Ethernet technology or know how Ethernet works. The advantage of this is that the training
budget is reduced and the operational expense of network error or major error error are much
less.

"In addition, switches are also very beneficial to translate between Ethernet ports that run at
different speeds and speeds. But as we know it is very easy and simple to do, but this is done at
very high rates and low costs or costs . "(Hill, 2000)

As we know that workstations are connected through hubs as in the case of Lease Lanka there
are just hubs for access to the network. These devices are used to propagate data that is coming
through the entire network. But there is a risk that when the information or data is transmitted
by more than one person at the same time, a data collision occurs and all data transmitted is
lost. And this collision is transmitted through the network by these centers. And to avoid such
collisions that will result in the loss of data is to replace the hubs with switches, as these devices
will not propagate any collisions across the network. These hubs, etc. Together form the LAN
segment. With the help of VLAN known as virtual LAN, the network administrator can segment
the LAN in different domains. So this results in a segment
