CONSTANT CONTACT OF SS PIPE WITH CS SUPPORT

Below you will find two pictures, Figure 1 and Figure 2. Figure 1 shows a Stainless Steel
pipe in direct contact with a corresponding Carbon Steel support with is a daily oocurence in
the Stainless Steel workshop. While I acknowedge that efforts have been made by the
construction team to put a barrier in the form of carbon paper sheets between the Carbon
Steel support and the Stainless Steel pipes which is considered temporary as this wear off easily
theseby exposing the carbon steel Supports to direct contact with the Stainless steel pipes.
Figure 2 shows an easy solution that can be considered permanent. By simply tack welding an
offcut of a stainless steel material at the contact point on the Carbon Steel support thereby
introducing a permanent barrier between the supports and stainless steel pipes.
Note: This might necessitate an NCR if no urgent steps are taken to address this issue.
