Introduction
Introduction to GIMP, Gimpology is one of the core courses offered by the faculty of Arts and
Education. It is a foundation course for the understanding of photo editing programme GIMP and
contributes to the Departments commitment to supporting students in their quest to understand
the IMVU environment in which they live and to excel in adding value to this IMVU society one
student at a time. The course components include the foundation theories of basic photo editing
programme such as GIMP including tools and their functions, layers, image manipulation and
saving. The course begins with a description of the subject area, and continues to introduce the
basic concepts and theories that are used as the foundation of photo and texture editing. This
includes discussions and applications of the programme tools. The course will be taught using the
traditional lecture method. Students will benefit from an exposure to the basic underlying theories
of GIMP and understand the significance of good photo creation/manipulation and its overall
impacts.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course students will be able to demonstrate an awareness of the basic
elements of most photo editing programmes including tools, layers and saving concepts.

Assessment and Assignments


Assessments are aimed at examining students' grasp of the course material and ensure that they
are familiarized with the tools and applications of the editing program GIMP. Coursework
assessments will be executed via the Innovative University Group thread. All assignments are to
be completed within the stipulated time frame or you will automatically fail the coursework. All
students should note, 40% of all coursework assignments will be added to your final grade. These
assessments will be graded automatically based on the grading scheme provided below.

*Assignment will be open at 12.05 PM (five minutes past noon) on the opening date of the
assignment and will close at 11.55 AM on the closing date of the assignment.
Students experiencing technical difficulties or other extenuating circumstances preventing the
completion of the assignments are asked to inform Mrs. Futur3 Turner at the very earliest but no
later than six (6) hours after the assignment is due. All communications must be formalized via
message to professor iMrsFutur3TNR and iT3CH the CEO, Dean Faculty of Science &
Technology.
